First and foremost, Please ONLY post if you have the RRO lift installed.

I need new tires, and an alignment, and So I'm trying to gather information on several things. My main goal is to reduce/get rid of the vibration (if possible) between 15-20mph, and when accelerating when turning (from a stop) I know some people have this same vibration, some do not.

So here are my questions:

Do you have the vibration?

What size of rims do you have? (if not stock provide brand please!)

Do you know how heavy they are?

What brand and size of tires do you have?

Do you know how heavy they are?

Do you have the specs from the alignment? If so please post them.

If you had the vibration, and then did something to get rid of it. What did you do specifically to get rid of the vibration? (other than removing the lift)

Thank you. I am not looking for a discussion at this point, just information gathering.

Hankook dynapro ATM RF10 235/65/17 with 1.25" spacers

yes i have the wobble when turning from take off quickly not when taking off slower

no I don't have the vibration between 15-20 mph

I did not have to do any modifications as in trimming nor melting of plastics, direct fit after lift and spacers

Do you have the vibration?
no

16x8 Procomp 7032

Do you know how heavy they are?
(shipping weight) 22"lbs

What brand and size of tires do you have?
235/75r16 Hankook Dynapro ATM's

Do you know how heavy they are?
34"lbs

Do you have the specs from the alignment? If so please post them.
I can't find them atm, but will post up if I do. I know the camber on the rear is just outside of range (as there is no camber adjustments in the rear) I have seen posts that you can adj the length of the comtrol arm to fix this but I am not getting any premature wear of the tires, (only 2k miles on them so far) and the Jeep tracks perfectly straight, so it hasn't been an issue.

Hope this helps.

and fwiw, I had 1.5"in spacers on my trailblazer and even with getting my tires rebalanced every 4k miles, I had vibration in the steering wheel. the vehicle tracked straight, but because of the spacers, (I'm guessing extra rotating weight as they were god awful heavy) I would always get vibrations (shakiness in the steering wheel) at random speeds and rpm.

I have the same rims as ming
no vibrating or shaking on takeoff
i have goodyear wrangler duratrac 225/75/16

I have a 2008 FD1 with 150k km (and 50k km done with the lift). I dont have the RRO lift but the MasterKit1 one. I have 245/65/17 Hancook AT with 1.5in spacers and i have a slight vibration at 90-100 km/h. Noting around 30km/h Alignment is within spec. I have the alignemnt sheet laying somewhere is the said Jeep will try to find and scan it. I also tought is was CV angle settling in...

Besides the vibes TJL is getting, deductive reasoning puts either the oversized tires on stock wheels, or the spacers as the culprit. (TJL have you tried to get your tires rebalanced?) The only 2 people that have reported no vibes, are Jdog and myself.

When I bought the Jeep, I had the dealership install the RRO lift for me. I drove the Jeep around stock for 500 miles before getting the lift installed. (Drove like a stock Patriot). Had the lift installed, and it drove just fine (almost like stock, but just a tad firmer on bumps and dips). Alignment was off and it pulled a tad to the left, so got the Jeep re-aligned. (Drove the same without pulling to the left). No shake, vibes, shimmy, etc.

At 1000 miles ordered my current wheels and tires. (Procomps and Hankooks) had them mounted and balanced and at 3000 miles on the Jeep, still no vibes, shimmy, shake, etc. The Jeep drives awesome.

I have only had 1 lifted vehicle that had vibrations during it's lifetime. It was a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer. Bought the vehicle stock, drove great! Found the Trailvoy forum, (and coming from a 2001 Jeep grand Cherokee) I wanted it to still be capable of taking off the beaten path. researched what I could do to lift it as well as upsize tires (as the ball joint limits tire size more than the spring guard on the pat).

I ordered a "liftmeister" spacer kit, fabbed from a forum member (similar to the bds spacer kit made for the trailblazer). Installed the lift spacers and the Trailblazer drove great. It was a internal spring spacer like the ones Revtek uses. (which changes ride quality a little. firmer ride, but somewhat springier.) Still wanted more lift in the rear so swapped the rear coils out for Chevy avalanche coils to add another 1.5"in of lift in the rear. Stiffened the ride up a bit more but still drove great!

Now my Trailblazer looked like it was on stilts, as I had 30"in tires and a total of 2.5"in lift in the front, and 3.5"in lift in the rear. The only way I could upsize the tires was again to add wheel spacers to get past the upper ball joint. So I ordered some H3 hummer wheels and 33"in duratracs as well as 1.5"in billet spacers. When I first had everything mounted the vehicle shook all over the place. I took it right back to the tire shop and had them re balance and retorque everything from the spacers to the lugs etc. it was a bit better but would vibe like crazy in my steering wheel mainly around 25 - 30mph and above 70mph. I can't tell you if I just got used to it over time, or if constantly re balancing the tires it finally got to a point that wasn't super noticeable.

point being, it was the spacers that was the issue with the vibes, not the lift.

Best of luck with your Pat AIC. (just get some 15's and those hankooks you want and all will be solved!) :smiley_thumbs_up:

That's what I'm thinking I'm going to do, but it will have to be after Christmas. I had a feeling it was the spacers, just not being in balance, I also need to get my alignment re checked. Off roading can really throw it out.
Even though most spacers are milled to a high quality, just a fraction of a micrometer off, and it'll show (just like an unbalanced tire.) Sometimes its a necessary evil, I had to have them on my trailblazer or I was stuck with a 30"in tall tire. no way around that. But if you can help not using them, it is best. You should see if there is a firestone dealer in your area. they do a lifetime alignment deal for under $200. totally worth it if you are wheeling a lot, as you know, big rocks and inputs to the tires will throw out your alignment pretty quickly. cant wait to see your set up!

I don't have a lift however this vibration you speak of while accelerating, I have noticed it on my old FDII Patriot (2008) and my 2012 Compass FDII. While under moderate to heavy acceleration I get a vibration for a few seconds and then it goes away.

I'm running 17" aluminum Patriot rims and 235/65/17 Cooper AT3 Tires

Since it seems to be the spacers, at least that's where this seems to be heading, the first question that came to mind was are the folks here experiencing the vibration using hubcentric spacers?

I would tend to think that would be a CVT thing rather than the actual wheels because I have that and am running everything stock suspension and tire wise.

Well it seems like the most common issue for the specific vibration I am getting has something to do with the stock wheels/spacers. I'm going to be going to a 15" wheel soon, shortly after new years. if i still get a vibration after that.... I may take off my lift.

I wish RRO would come out with a 1 or 1.5 inch lift to lessen the severity of the CV joint angles on initial acceleration and on heavy articulation.

the RRO lift is only 1.5"in of true lift. I have measurements from my RRO installation in the lifted MK thread. Even though it's a claimed 2"in lift. it's not.

Also with a spacer lift, the cv angle doesn't increase during articulation. yes, there is a different CV angle for regular driving, but the maximum droop is still limited by our shocks, control arms, and bump stops. (just because a lift is added, it doesn't lengthen the shocks or the control arm.) There is only a more "severe" angle than originally when at rest.

Oh yeahh. I should've known that. I guess that's what I get when I try to post on the forum early in the morning before my brain is firing on all cylinders. Haha
