I could care less if there were a Jeep badge on my MK. It is the right sized vehicle with the right features for the right price for me and a lot of people (that don't even know it yet). Liberty = 25% more money up front and 20% lower FE (at best) and smaller seating space. Grand/Commander? Umm, how about double the cost. I had a 2005 Liberty 4WD Limited. Loved it at the time. It served my needs for 5 months and 9k miles. My life changed and it would be useless to me today.

Don't fan the flames over there.

That guy and his wife are exactly the customers Jeep does not need or want. Unfortunately, many of these complainers, aren't smart enough to realize that a Jeep is not the vehicle they want before they buy it.

I'm stoked with mine....base model sport, with manual tranny and air......that's it. I tend to keep my vehicles 10+ years, this has everything I was after. I'm not crazy about power windows and locks, cause they always seem to be broken in all the older vehicles I get into. I like all the plastic, easy to clean, doesn't stain, I would have preffered a rubber/plastic floor throughout as well instead of the carpet. It drives real nice, and takes bumps/rough road pretty well. I know it's going to be great in the winter, and I will feel safe on the road. Not to mention there is nothing else in it's price range. Awesome on gas, tons of room for people and gear.
Even the factory stereo has enough oomph to keep me happy.

I love how his arguments against the Patriot not being a "real Jeep" are things like plastic interior and no power windows... I'm pretty sure the wrangler is the most plastic infested creation on the planet and they have almost zero features on the inside.

People like this guy are so stuck inside the box that it's a wonder they can even accept the combustion engine as a means of transportation.

They can. It just has to be a 502, burn 5 gals to the mile and only have 200 bhp from the factory new.

Love my Pat and as I have said before, show me a person that "needs" all the features of a "Real Jeep" 100% of the time and I will show you someone who bought and old Jeep and mod the snot out of it because they have never made one from the factory like that.

Wow, those guys need to get a life. I read some of the other posts over there about the Compass and one dude said, and I quote "Jeep is dead". LOL cracks me up how narrow minded people can be. It's great to be loyal to a car maker...but they are really only loyal to our wallets. If they ain't making money, they ain't making cars (or trucks, or SUV's, et al). All things being equal, if the badge said Chevy, I'd be just as happy.

Guys if we all drove the same vehicle what a boring life it would be plus we would have nothing to argue about,I traded in a Landrover Freelander for my Pat and will not look back. The Freelander had a BMW TD4 diesel engine in a supposed British vehicle now owned by TATA who are from India,I have not got a problem with that at all but this is the way the world is going,my last Jeep was a 1944 Willys they would probably find fault with that.:blah:

The Guy who said that we do not have real jeeps does not have a real brain. I have a buddy that owns a Wrangler and another that owns a cherokee. I go out with them all the time and do quite well. The best thing is that I can go farther, cuz I do not have to lug around extra gas!!!

had to throw in my 2 cents

The Patriot is not a "real" Jeep - it's a Dodge Caliber with different sheetmetal. If you're ok with that, then great. My wife and I looked at one, because they're the cheapest (IIRC) of the current Jeeps, but we were turned off by how cheap and plasticky they are inside and then also by how ill-equipped the base model is. To really get anything decent for a DD - power windows, door locks, other basic amenities standard in most cars now - adds on like 25% to the base sticker price. And that's before you even do anything to give it any sort of off-road or even all-weather capability.

Remember our first wrangler

Base price was about $9K
Well equipped was about $16K (no hard top, Manual, with 4x4)
even rear defroster was extra

guess you dont consider Base Wrangler a jeep because it didnt come with all your comforts,

As for the GC, just a glorified SUV,
i dont consider a GC a true jeep as it comes with too much leather and bells and whistles, besides the fact i pulled the bumper cover off the GC getting out a parking spot too close to the snow drift,

In the family currently have 1 GC, 1 Liberty, 1 Patriot
Patriot being the 7th Jeep we have had in the household

They criticized Pat owners?

more i look at the site more i laugh

Need some help.
I want to run 265/75/16 (32x10.50) tires on my 05 Unlimited. I'm looking at wheels and have a few questions.
I've read the specs on the MT Classic II's and the Dick Cepek's and Pro Comps. the bolt pattern, offset, etc. is really not the issue.
The maintenance is my concern with the polished wheels, NJ salts the hell out of the roads in the winter and I'm a lazy , old bastard, how much work does it take to maintain these year round?
