I have the 2.4 4x4 I Drive a total of a hundred four miles a day most of which are on interstates changing from the highway to highway I'm on total of 4 highways throughout the day I have absolutely no problems with the 2.4 my wifes compass is all wheel drive with a 2.0 and has a tremendous amount of less power there is a big difference

Comparing a 600hp vehicle to a 158hp vehicle is hardly apples to apples. The Toyota has 4X the power and only 2X the weight.

Ignatz is a 2.4 FWD CVT. Plenty fast enough unless you're a speed demon, in which case Jeep makes a GC w/ a hemi V8 -- if your kiddo is late to his piano lesson, its not your vehicle's fault.

While Ignatz was in getting his winter tires the dealer loaned me a Toyota Highlander Limited off their used car lot. A very nice vehicle with all the whistles and bells. No complaints. The 3.5 V6 was faster than my Patriot, but not all that fast starting out because the gear ratio was so low. After 30 mph it virtually flew to 60. In a race the Toyota would certainly win, and I'm sure it was nowhere near 600hp. However, I added 6 gallons of gas and the gauge was lower when I returned it than when I started after a mere 100 miles. Ignatz averages very high 20s mpg (never below 26, ever) and flirting with the mid-30s mpg when driven conservatively on the highway. The Toyota was obviously built for carrying a load that the Patriot was not built to carry, and that also resulted in a harsher ride.

The Highlander is a truck trying to act like a car, the Patriot is a car trying to act like a truck. Each has its niche, but these vehicles are not competitors, any more than the salad bar at the grocery store competes with a restaurant.

As for the 2.0 and 2.4 comparison, there's about a 20% difference in displacement, but probably more like a 35% difference in discretionary power, so the 2.4 will perform better, but its not built for drag racing.

Oh, I might add the Toyota with 17,000 miles on it was stickered at $34,999. Ignatz cost less than half that brand spanking new. Wonder why someone is trading in a vehicle with such low mileage?
