Maybe not "ever", but you'll get the idea.

I've had my '08 for one week, and I was taking some friends out to dinner this last Friday. We finished dinner and piled into the Patriot to go to a movie, and she wouldn't start. Nothing. All the lights came on, no warnings, just nothing.

I had to have it towed to the dealership at 9pm on a Friday night. it turns out the receiver that reads the chip in the key is bad. How long to replace such a miniscule part, you might ask?

7 - 10 business days. Seven to ten. Business. Days.

The dealership gave me a minivan for a "courtesy car".

I may just kill myself.

For your sake, I hope the van has REALLY dark tinted windows all around!

I can't believe they couldn't find some crappy Jeep somewhere on the lot you could "borrow".

Want to borrow my Beretta?

I may have told this story, but here goes again. When we went to test drive the Patriot (one of many trips) to our local Jeep dealer, when we got done with the test, I chatted up the salesman for a few minutes. We started talking about the Compass and the Rallye version they had on the lot and then I decided to (for s--ts and giggles) ask the guy about how much a new mini-van would cost. Mind you that we have a 7-month old son and need something with good cargo capacity and ease to get in and out. He looks at me and this was his quote; "The mini-vans are a huge part of our sales. They are the ultimate family vehicle, but the only problem is that you look like a punk when you are driving it."

That was the LAST time I will ever inquire about a mini-van. I wonder if the mini-vans come with a display case built into the dash that holds your testicles from where your wife slices them off???

A mini-van was cool, when it actually was a mini-van. My dad had a '78 Chevy Panel van. He raced go-carts and when we would go to the tracks the kart and equipment were under a platform that he built. My brother and I road in the back on top of the platform. In 1986 he unloaded it for a Chevy Astro. That thing was just a slightly smaller van (built on a truck platform). Then the go-cart was in the trailer, and we would take the middle row out and play on the floor. We traveled all over the place in that thing on family vacations (up to Maine, down to the Florida Keys, out to the Grand Canyon, over to Mt Rushmore, Devils Tower and Yellowstone).
When mini-vans became tall station wagons they were no longer cool (he unloaded the Astro for a '00 Caravan, yuck).
I can't stand the Honda Odessey commericals; "Respect the Van" with all of the artwork you used to see on panel vans and customs. Come on, it is a tall station wagon. You aren't gonna haul anything but screamin' kids to and from Starbucks in that "van".

Let me tell you my friend that you've been living one great life if this "extremly disturbing story" makes it the saddest Friday ever for you.Don't woory, you'll get your baby back.Yopu should see how many troubles I had with my previous Ford Focus key cylinder, they had to replace it three times [once when I was on vacation down in FLA] what a pain in the A -- that was.Good Day & Good Luck

I'd rock a minivan
Me too... Get the wife, Take the back seats out, toss down a nice blanket and

This reminds me of my trip to Lowes and new keys.
I got 2 new transponder only keys. Went to Lowes to get them cut.
I didn't have my second original key with me so I couldn't program them.
I put each new key in to verify that the mechanical cut was correct and that it would turn the ignition (hell it even started the car for 1 sec).
Well, I tried both new keys, same result start 1 sec then die.
So I said, when I get home I will program the keys and be good to go.
I put my original key back in and it wouldn't start.
I was like WTF. For 60 seconds I was thinking well this sucks. I got to get this towed now to the dealership. I wasn't even suppose to be at Lowes (working hours on a parts run), I was suppose to be at Granger.. GREAT....
Before I called anyone, I tried the original key again and this time it started....
