As the title says, I no longer own my patriot. Heres how it goes. I have had nothing but trouble with the darn thing since day one. I couldn't take it anymore, and finally traded my 12 patriot for a 13 Nissan Rogue SV. I have had 2 Nissan's in the past, and not one problem. My parents both drive nissans, and no problems. Heres the problems ive had.....

*Patriot pulled to the right, and had to go back twice to have it aligned
*Bluetooth will recieve calls but will not send, was told it was my phone, but its not true, dealer taken 3 times.
*At least 2-3 a week it had long cranking issues, fixed with a software up date, but was still a pain, still has trouble some days.
*Keyless Remote doesn't always work, and gets annoying.
*Drivers side tail light did not work, was told the harness had to be replaced.
*Brakes were replaced due to squeaking.
*The HVAC controls get stuck on settings and won't move
*Doesn't always read my ipod very well, and freezes
*The auto power door locks to this day lock when they want too, and dont always lock at speeds 15mph like the dealer told me.
*Then 3 weeks ago my liftgate was leaking water, and was told could not find anything wrong.
*I only get 20-22 mpg in a FWD 2.0 CVT, easy on the gas, and coast then brake when possible.

I finally got tired of dealing with the electrical and now water leaking (which is known for patriot), and got rid of it. I only owned pat for 11 months, and only put 8200 miles on her. I don't not like the list of issues I had, and believe the Patriot is a wonderful, and an amazing SUV to own, but Chryslers engineering sucks, and thats why I traded it. It was not Pat, it was Chrysler. I work full time as a manager, part time in school, and have a 6 year child. I do not have time for games, and I just simply want a good car, and I put faith into my jeep, and I believe Chrysler let me down. I know many of you will be mad, and prolly say some mean things about me, but I have had great luck with Nissan, so I went back. Thank you everyone for letting me be a part of this site, and I wish many, many, many miles ahead with you and your Patriot. Sincerely 2012 Cherry Patriot. :)

I wish the best of luck to you and no one should be judging you. You do things that best suit your needs. Luckily, I had zero problems with my Patriot in three years and 24k miles of ownership. My entire family has had very good experiences with Chrysler products from Chrysler New Yorker, XJ, ZJ 5.9, Caravan, Pacifica and now Patriot. I hope some day I can add a Wrangler to this list.

I love wranglers, and I really hoped to own one day, but im hesitant now. We had a 99 caravan, best dam van ever! No problems at all. Traded for an 07 town and country worst headache. So I gave it another shot, same thing. I really liked the patriot for everything it was, but enough was enough.

I can definitely sympathize. Their is nothing worse than dealing with electrical gremlins. Unless you have a dedicated technician and mechanic willing to track down the issue you are are done for.

I dealt with very issues on my wife's Liberty last year and I was ready to throw a match to it. But I was able to find a dealer willing to track down the root issue and cure the demons from it.

OP - been there with a 2005 Tacoma that was a real lemon( worse than your list believe it or not by a LOT ). Sold it just 7.5 months after buying it( new ). At some point it is best to cut your losses and run. Good luck with the new vehicle.

I can understand how these things can be annoying and untolerable. When you spend over 20k on a vehicle you expect to have minimal issues. Thats why most people buy brand new vehicles. The Patriot is a great vehicle and I feel like it has the potential to be a staple of the Jeep brand. I agree with your comments about Chrysler's design dropping the ball. The Patriot does have it's annoyances. Such as the crunch in my front suspension that will not go away. The random vibrations in the vehicle that are annoying but not an issue.

I had a 2003 Toyota Highlander with 99k miles on it when I traded it in on the Patriot. The only issue I had during ownership was the cruise control went out. It was fixed under warranty. I have no doubt that vehicle would run with zero issues for another 100k miles. The reason I traded it in was because i was 22 and didn't want to drive a mom vehicle.

Congratulations on your new purchase and I hope you really love it. I hope it gives you zero issues and lasts for a long time. We hope you still will frequent the forums and let us know how you are doing.

Huge bummer.... a laundry list like that on a new vehicle sucks. Sorry to hear all that!

I just rolled 54k and (knock wood) haven't spent a dime on repairs. I'm happy enough with my Pat to start looking at the 2014 (though the wife wants a bigger vehicle) and trade up.

Thank you for the kind words. I will poke around here and there.

I once had a Cherokee with a list, but the worst problem was a slipping clutch. Like you, I made several unsuccessful trips to the dealer. At the time I was a sales rep on the road travelling 1000 miles per week, and couldn't keep jumping in and out of different cars every time it was in the shop. After 6 months and 20,000 miles I traded it for Daisy, an Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser which turned out to be one of the best, trouble-free, and reliable cars I ever owned.

I never intended to come back to Jeep, but my dealer dropped their GM franchise and went all Chrysler, so I went with the Patriot. So far (118,000) I'm glad I did.

Well I for one hope your Nissan turns out to a complete piece of ... Good stable vehicle for you. Sorry to hear you had such a rough time with your Pat.

Congrats on the Rogue purchase. I have considered that vehicle too as a trade option. They are pretty sweet.

I am also looking at an AWD 2008 Pontiac Vibe but have not checked into their issues just yet. It seems to be a rebadged Toyota Matrix?
I have pretty much decided to keep my Patriot and hope for no more problems.
It is running good now but I have not driven it to work this week opting for the Vespa GTS300 Super instead.

I would rather drive to work in a car as driving the Vespa is taking a toll on this 55 year old back and two hours a day on two wheels is not as easy as motorcycling was for me back i nthe day. 74mpg though!

I have an Eco meter in the Jeep and it says 14.8 mpg. This is a combined hwy and city one hour drive to work. I am envious of your 20 mpg.

No hard feelings and take care.
