Great news! Many thanks for the update SilverMike.

Just curious as I haven't had the time to follow this news story:
Is this issue with Plastech related to Chrysler/Jeep's plan to upgrade the interiors of the Compass and Patriot?

I just figure it is Chrysler's way to get a better deal or bust a bad one. If it means upgrading the interiors faster so be it.

According to this morning's paper, Chrysler may have to close nearly all their assembly plants until they get this situation straightened out. Not good news for our members who are waiting for their Pats to be built.

neilchrichton, This afternoon a settlement was reached.
Sure glad to hear that. Some of our members waiting for their Pat are almost bursting with anticipation now. A delay would have pushed them over the edge.

Rends, that may be overkill so to speak. I think a Ma Deuce would be quite effective on deer, large dogs, and traffic miscreants.

I read the article yesterday. I was worried about a serious delay on my order. But seeing as the situation is temporarily resolved and my order is not due until Feb 16 (at the earliest). A few extra days wait aren't going to kill me.

I called my dealer to ask about my car and this shutdown. He did a quick search for my VIN and said my car was still due to ship on Feb. 12. Since my dealer is only 100 miles or so from the assembly plant hopefully I will see my car by mid month.

If they can skip the step of traveling by train across the country, I'm sure it speeds things up. I used to live across the street from an auto loading area for Burlington Northern in St.Paul MN. It seemed some of the cars would sit for weeks before they were loaded on a train and moved away. Likewise, cars from elsewhere would sit after the train brought them in before a truck came to collect them and deliver them to dealers. Does anyone know how Belvidere works? Do they load directly onto trains at the plant, or do they go truck, train, truck?

jepstr,

I live in Kenosha, WI about 70 miles from the plant. Mine was loaded on a truck at the plant and delivered to the dealership.

I am guessing they will choose the cheapest method with the least amount of moving to deliver the vehicle. For me, I would assume that if it went by rail, it would head to Chicago, may de-board there or get directed to Milwaukee and de-board there. Either way it would be an hour trip to K-town. Otherwise put it on a truck and it is here in 90 minutes.

So do we know when the new interiors are due? I think the current one is just fine BTW. I would love to get my hands on a Diesel Patriot.

I think that DCX required that the new interiors come in at a certain price and the supplier could not do it. So they have to find a new supplier.
