Heated seats: time to get warm?

Hi,
yesterday i sat in a Volvo VX70 and i noticed that it took about 1-2min only before the seat got warm.

So much time does the heated seats in a Patriot need to get warm?

I have the limited . It takes about 1-2min to get hot.

Hmmm, my Limited takes a good 5 minutes before the ol' butt starts to feel toasty. Then again, it's purdy darn cold when I use them too. I only use the warmer when the temperature outside is cold -- like -12 C.

Mine takes a good 3-5 mins before I feel the heat. ...and same like quasimodem, I only turn it on when its around -10c or colder.

Takes about 3-5 minutes too but I park outside and for the last couple weeks it's been about -30 at 6am when I leave for work, so that's not too bad. I only use them when it's really cold like that altho the gf likes to put her's on even when it's -1.

They seem to warm up pretty quick, actually I usually have to put it on low or it gets too hot.

Mine only take a minute or so to heat up.

I'm a wimp and use them almost every morning now that it is "cold" here.

Question for you guys...if you turn them on and skip the "high" setting and go directly to the low setting, do you feel them warm up? Maybe it's psychological, but I don't think I do...I have to start out at the high setting and then move to the lower setting.

But then again, I like to be nice and toasty warm...

I usually have to turn mine to the low setting because it gets too warm for me after 2-3 minutes.

Mine takes 2 or 3 minutes to warm up. I love how it also heats your lower back area.

My seat of the pants observation this morning:
* Ambient temperature 19 degrees Farenheit on both my outside thermometer and the Patriot's thermometer
* 1-2 minutes before the seat was noticeably warmer
* 3 - 4 minutes and it was full operating temperature.

Yeah, that sounds about right for what I notice too. It was -12 C here this morning (~10 F) so I more or less use the heated seats every morning when it's cold like this. It definitely helps to plug the block heater in overnight so the engine is somewhat warm when you go to start it up in the morning.

I find that if you start on the Low setting you do not notice the seats warming up but if you go to High, then after 3 minutes and your feeling warm, then I go to Low. In fact I usually cannot leave it on High for more than 10 minutes as it gets uncomfortably warm. The outside temp here has been around -16 C for the past few days.

For some reason if I start on Low I never seem to feel it getting warm.

I imagine heated seats might make you feel like you've had an "accident" in your pants (I wouldn't actually know about that tho). I use mine though but do somewhat find them amusing.

It depends on how cold it is, when its been 13 in the mornings, it takes them a good 5 min to heat up, when its 30+ it takes no time at all.

I leave them on high because I LOVE my butt to by nice and toasty

my seats seem to heat up faster than the 2-5 min other people are finding...that's on low. they seem to heat up substantially faster than those in my vette or in my wife's freestyle. i have also noticed that the car comes up to temperature very quickly and starts blowing nice warm air out faster than in any other car i've ever owned (no the engine temp guage never gets out of the normal range/overheats)...admittedly cleveland, ohio (usa) isn't quite as cold as where some forum members live, but we still have some pretty chilly mornings here !

1-3 minutes, depending on the temperature i guess. I'm guessint there's a difference if your seats are cloth or leather. Mine are cloth (YES).

just wondering if the heated seats stay on after the car has been shut off and then restarted. Never had heated seats but was wondering if in the patriot once the button is set to on does it stay on. meaning when the car is restarted the seats are on still. I know some vehicles are and some are not but sure would be nice if they came on with the command start if they were left on the night before. Was in a compass a couple of weeks ago to hear what the upgraded stereo was like and the salesman had the seats on but i never checked.(no patriots with upgrade on lot)

Nope...
They go off when you shut the vehicle off. You have to push the button again the next time. Though I don't find that to be too dificult...

I have the North and it takes 1 -2 minutes. I usually turn my to half power after about three minutes, find it too hot.
