Plus there are lots of others that address your questions.
Basically, those that have an issue will tell you it is a crap vehicle, those that either don't have issues or understand that sometimes stuff happens will tell you it is a good vehicle.
I feel there are more of us that like the Patriot than not.
Mine certainly does the job for me. At the price I paid, I'm very pleased.

Overall reliability I would rate as good to very good. You only ever really hear the complaints and total complaints for PTU (the transfer case like device) and CVT failures are pretty darn low. Almost no rear diff complaints and very few engine failures (some were admitted hydro-locks while fording creeks/puddles/etc.)
