Patriot turned out to be too small for me...

Today I agreed to purchase an 08 Liberty Sport 4x4, Jeep Green, Auto, Pref. Pkg. 28B, 235/70R16 OWL All Terrain Tires, Skid Plate Group, and Class III Tow Package.

When I walked in, they had $1000 rebate and $500 bonus cash. During the transaction, salesman said he had good news, Jeep just slapped in a new incentive, another $500 bonus cash! :pepper: So $2000 in incentive and I purchased discounted through Chrysler Supplier Affiliate Program from work.

They also gave me a decent value for trade on my tired 96 Grand Cherokee Laredo that needed at least $1000 worth of work to pass inspection here in a month.

Another sweet deal is that earlier in the week, Jeep mailed me a voucher code for a free Nikon D40 Digital SLR ($550 value) if I purchased an 08 Jeep Liberty by mid January! :wow: Likely because I had inquired earlier in the year for info about Liberty. Sweet!

Soooo, how could I resist. Forgive me. ;) At least it is another Jeep!

I like the Libertyas well [probably more the older version] but that cash you got back will be really handy for purchase of the extra gas the Liberty will require to run.

P.S. by the way you'll look much smarter with your Nikon than Canon [sorry, just a personal opinion]

That's alright - I need the room (I am big guy with lots of waterfowling gear & dogs and a Pat was a bit tight). Also, I tow a 16.5' duck boat with lots of decoys from time to time and this thing can tow up to 5000 lbs. It will get slightly better mileage (not much) than my old Grand Cherokee did and the daily commute to work isn't that far for me. I can deal.

As for the Nikon vs Canon, it is a freebee SLR. Ironically, I work for Eastman Kodak! I used to work in the silver halide film business for a good number of years and now am involved with R&D of our inkjet printheads for Kodak's new consumer Easyshare Inkjet AIO printers.

I saw my first Kodak AIO tonight!! I'll be interested to see how they perform in independent testing because they sure do LOOK great! (I'm an old HP fan but I'm always looking for something new and better..like my Pat!)

Congrats on the Libby! On the D40 remember that only Nikon DX series (and 3rd party designed for DX) lenses work. It is a very good camera used as a backup by some pros.

Randoo I have Canon and Nikon but switched to Nikon because a 20 year old lens can work on all their Digital SLRs except for the D40. Canon went with a faster autofocus but trashed backwards compatibility. They are even now in virtually all areas.

Lib is great alternative

With Incentives Lib can be same price if not less than an equivilant Pat,
and for MPG, 4x4's are about the same,
last fill up on my pat, just averaged 18.5 MPG on the tank,
and nothing out the ordinary in my driving, havent event used the 4x4 yet,

congrats, and enjoy your ride

congrat and enjoy but hey we still like to see pics so :worthless:
No pics yet because I haven't even seen it yet. :icon_rolleyes: Dealer is doing a swap and checking on it this AM. Will post when I see it and get pics. Other than that, here is one from the Jeep webpage...

Sorta like mine, except with skid plate group tow hooks up front and I got the larger OWL All Terrain Tires

Congrats! I really like the restyled Liberty...just couldn't justify the higher price and lower MPGs. :(

Can't wait to see pics of yours!!

I test drove the 08 Liberty twice and was really torn between the 2 but decided on the pat. Less money and better mpg but they weren't offering the discounts they are now. I don't regret my decision at all though

that image is photoshopped - but its a nice looking truck - congrats.
Show me something for sale on a webpage that AIN'T PS'ed :D
(PS is the greatest product enhancer on Earth.)
