Hi All,

my searching skills must suck cause I know this has to be a common question. Since the day I got my 2010 pat the right blinker has been fast blinking on me. The bulbs work, but it fast blinks them. the first time I use the right blink, the dash dings at me...I can only assume it's telling me something is wrong but I'm not sure what. relay?

I have 30 days to take it by carmax to have anything fixed but I honestly don't want to sit in a dealership for 2 hours if it's no big deal to fix myself. Everything was so easy to get to in my 2000 cherokee. Seems a bit more complicated with the newer vehicles.

What can I check or switch or what have you....to figure whats up?

Sounds like a bulb is out or it's shorting out somewhere. I just had this happened after my accident. My right turn signal was broken but the bulb still in place. Every time I turn my right blinker, it would blink fast and ding at me.
hrrrmmmmm.....so it's telling me that the bulb "may be going out"? LOL how smart of it....so would you guys suggest changing out the bulbs first?

Can you have somebody stand outside the Jeep when this happens to see at least if it's front or back light that is acting up?

I've actually done this. All the lights come on fine, no bulbs out. when the signal is on, both the front and back turns signals blink fast...it's apparent from the outside they are both on and blinking faster than normal.

I had three people out there with me a few minutes ago...there are no bulbs out....they are all on. it's gotta be a fuse or flasher or something....the fuse box under the hood is one serious change from my 2000 cherokee!!

Yea, my first guess is someone put some LED replacements bulbs in. The TIPM (the fuse box under the hood - AKA Totally Integrated Power Module) senses how much power draw there is from the bulbs. If one bulb goes out the amp draw drops and it dings and fast blinks to tell you a bulb is out. If both bulbs are working they are either not drawing enough power (LED's) OR there is a problem with the TIPM.

Those were my first thoughts. Other than the bulbs there's nothing else that would cause less current to be drawn. My guess is that it's the TIPM, and that'll have to be a Jeep issue, hopefully it's under warranty?

You said it's been doing this since the day you got your Jeep? Did it happen during the test drive or was it later that day when it started?

That happened to my Dodge Ram and the cause was an incorrect bulb. I don't remember exactly but it was supposed to be double filament and someone had installed a single, well you get the idea. I would check to see if you have the correct type bulbs.

It isn't safe! Jeep should buy it back!

/sarcasm

Great advice here, let us know what you find. Checking for led or wrong bulb should be very simple. Even if you don't know the correct bulb, swap the right and left bulbs, see if the problem follows the bulbs.

my pat is a 2010 i got from carmax....it's been doing it from the day i got it, so maybe a bulb was out and they replaced it with an incorrect bulb. I have not had a chance to check yet....football season seriously puts a crimp in my time...lol. I havent even looked yet...but I hope getting to the bulb isnt a huge deal. i could take it back to carmax and have them do it for me but i realllllly dont wanna sit in a waiting room for 3 hours while they check a bulb.
