Y'know, when you look at that picture, it reminds me of a butterfly coming out of its cocoon. In this case a Patriot is just starting to emerge, but is not all the way out yet!

All kidding aside, I feel that the Compass has the more "slippery" shape and will probably be a bit more efficient at speed than the Compass, and may be effected a bit less by sidewinds, but the Patriot will have more interior usable space.

As for me, when the Compass came out I was not happy with the look and preferred to wait until the Patriot came along. I wanted a Jeep, but I wanted an efficient Jeep that had cargo space like my Subaru Outback. The Patriot is the car that pulled it off. As far as I'm concerned, EVERYTHING works!

Thanks for those comparison tests, they were very informative!:smiley_thumbs_up:

I saw a black Compass today in the grocery store parking lot (I took a detour through the lot because I saw a khaki Patriot and I wanted to get a better look at it...)

Black looks good on the Compass. By far, the best color I've seen on it.

Someone in my neighborhood has a white Compass. I see it around here pretty often. And the more I see the Compass, the more I like the looks of the Patriot.

But black...that looks good on the Compass.

:beerchug:Thank's - Black was my choice, steel blue the runner up, you are right though, white does not do much for me as either the Compass or Pat.
I see you too went with the 5-speed, I had to wait for 3 months for mine, they didn't want to make me a Limited with the 5-speed for such a long time.

Glad I waited:D

Ah...I haven't gotten my Pat yet. :( I'm placing my order in November, and I can't wait!

Hence my out-of-the-way detour to go drool over the 4x4 Khaki Limited Pat this afternoon.

And my begging the Hubby to swing through a dealership when we were down in LA earlier this month.

And my wandering over to the Jeep lot when we met up with Hubby's car club at the Nissan dealership last weekend.

I'm not obsessed with this vehicle, or anything... :/

I have a female co-worker that bought a Compass the same week I bought the Patriot. Both of us didn't know until we showed up for a shift together. It was quit a laugh. She says she likes the Compass because of it's "unique design" She says it has been drawing a lot of looks as well. (good or bad I don't know lol) At any rate, she is very very happy with it.

For me, I wanted something that looked like an SUV. The Compass, like the Dodge Caliber look more like a crossover. Also, I think the Compass looks like something more woman would drive than men. (no offence anyone)

Back to the OP, but I can't understand how the Patriot could be significantly tippier than the Compass. They are practically the same vehicle; just the compass has the rounder stylish body, and the patriot the plainer boxy body.

Maybe if one was comparing the FDII Patriot, I guess since it is a little higher off the ground it might have a little more body roll and a little higher center of gravity, but the base Compass and base Patriot have identical chassis and suspensions correct?
