That's all very odd, as far as I knew this was the only unit available at the time. I wonder if the one you have been looking at is for U.S domestic market and the one I have installed is for import models. In any case it looks nothing like the one in the brochure. I have seen a photo of a U.S version on this forum and it looks like the cable connects directly under the centre armrest. I would have preffered it to be installed there so I could use the Phone/MP3 holder like it was designed.

Cheers,

TIm.

Just go to a car audio place and get them to install it where ever you want!.

or just by an FM transmitter?

my 2c

mine got dirty yesterday had to do a quick run to mackay, and spotted my first other pat in rockhampton, was a silver one at the servo i was refilling with he was happy with it was a sports pak. his only gripe was the towbar was to low and he has to gt a raised tongue for his boat trailer was dragging.

Don't get to drive mine during the week much as the wife gets it first..but I am doing lots of km's on the weekends... real nice drive. Next Saturday will be heading to Noosa area via Dubbo for a few weeks - that should test it out!

I installed a Uniden UHF radio and 6x9 pioneer speakers this weekend.

I think I might replace the head unit soon, the factory one is fine, but I really need something with MP3.

I decided i wasnt going to bother spending $$$ buying the adaptor so i got an FM transmitter/cradle thing from Dick Smiths. $79 it cost but the sound is fantastic! Cygnet was the brand if anyone is interested. Plugs into the cigarette lighter so it covers that useless little rectangular pocket next to the 4WD lever.
Hey Mud, where did you install the CB unit, hows it look? Pics?

had a lovely drive today

drove from home in the eastern burbs in melbourne to Colac - 330k round trip
mostly 100k - except start stop through geelong

was very wet in the morning and hot in the afternoon

the car did absolutely everything with ease, including over taking and handled the wet conditions very well

did it all only using 1/2 tank of fuel ir 6.4l per 100

PS how do you fade the stereo to the front only ?

we are on a winner with the patriot .....

I installed it in the space/pocket under the radio, and it looks great!

Beware ! this slot is not DIN size as I suspected.

The job was time consuming but very straight forward.

will get pics up soon.

nice...btw may i suggest you flip the towbar tongue as it will drag if youre towing anything heavier than a 6x4 trailer...ill be getting rid of the factory radio im waitng for a faceplate assembly from ryda in sydney so i cn fit a standard din radio will post pics when it arrives, also sofar nada from jeep about the RDS stuff...i was told they have the components removed for the aussie market, to which i replied that they should also remove the rds label aswell and not promote them as being capable if thats the case, ive done a few mods to mine aswell, the external antennas are actually attached to the rack at the back which ill post aswell as i need fone and uhf coverage etc

Yeah I want to put an aftermarket HU in too, but I cant find any kits that will support double din without replacing the console trim bezel.

You can get these fro single DIN http://documents.victorytechnologies.com//documents/product/99-6507.pdf

but has anyone seen one for a double DIN. I dont really wanna have to pay for a whole new panel + shipping.
