Way too pricey for me.
Don't see why can't rig your own platform to put a standard tent on.
May copy the idea of using the ladder as the brace :)
I won't go camping anywhere that can't pitch the tent on the ground.
But where I surf fish, can't pitch a tent on the beach, but can camp in your vehicle so something like that would be perfectly legal.

Yea it is pretty expensive, I'd probably go with the one that goes off the back of the truck. But I thought the idea was pretty cool and I'd never seen it before. Was just curious to see if any of the Pat owners have tried this idea out.

I think this idea is great! Too bad you can't pull the ladder up behind you to provide more security--and keep the crawling critters out.

Yep, a little pricey considering what you can get huge dome tents for--but why not stick our in the campground!

Man, that's high...probably keeps you from being eaten by lions though...lol

I have slept in the pat,
Problem is usually back is loaded with too much gear to make room for an air matress like that.
I admit, that is a bit of a hassle to deal with. In our case, we put everything (including a small cooler) on the floor in front of the rear seat and front passenger seat. If we were to do that for multiple days, we would have needed to put stuff outside... or maybe in a roof basket

Trouble with sleeping in the back is you get all those high heel marks all over the headliner.
Damn! Take a little time, why don't you....

Now I know they have the tent that goes off the back and I just saw this on xtreme 4x4 on spike they put this on a WJ. I didn't know if anyone has tried this, it's a bit pricey for a tent but the concepts kind of cool. Don't know if it would fit either, it is a universal fitting roof tent.
Theses are expensive but great for areas that have venomous creepy crawlies. It's good to get up off the ground when camping regardless.

Yea that's the other tent that I knew they made too that goes off the back. It was just something I saw while watching tv and even though it's expensive and I'd never pay over a grand for a tent anyway I thought the concept was cool. I'm guessing no ones tried this cause of the expense of the tent. But if I was to get one I'd definitely be getting the one that goes off the back of the truck.
