Is it just me or does the Patriot look a lot like the Nissan X-Trail?

Except for the grill, they seem to be very similar. Both have the small boxy shape, and both have fuel efficient, 4 cylinder engines.

What one do you think is bigger/more capable? The Patriot or the X-Trail?

Very similar features and capabilities on the base fwd and the awd to fdI. The lock mode on the nissan is not 50,50. The fdII would have a major edge off roading.

To get AWD on the nissan you have to go right to 27k cdn while the patriot 4x4 starts at 18995 + 2260 for the North package - still under by quite a bit.

I actually saw one of those X-trails here in northern VA about a month ago. Of course it had Canadian tags.... Good looking vehicle, about the same size as the Patriot, Escape, CR-V (UGLIEST CAR OF THE YEAR), Rav4, etc. Still good looking. :D

Still like the Patriot more! :D :D

I'm obsessed with the Ford Escape and am hoping to purchase the re-designed 2008 model when it hits stores later this year.

Gotta start making better money first though,

i was kinda too. the new 08 model looks way better (homage to the explorer), imo. the squared off front gives it a more masculine look too, however, i am a little repulsed with the chrome grill. so 90's! Ford dropped $1000 to compete with the Patriot and such which makes it more a candidate. 2.4% financing is really tempting too.

honestly, i have to wait to see the Patriot with my own eyes. i cant ignore its a-best looks, but i wish they did a better job with the int styling. my decision will be made in the summer/fall, but im confident itll be either the Jeep or Ford.

Right now, the only Ford I would consider over the Patriot is the never-made retro Bronco

I actually saw this concept vehicle in person a few months ago at the Seattle Auto Show. It was awesome! Too bad the Patriot isn't being offered in a 2-dr body style like the Cherokee was. I just don't need 4 doors.

Before getting too obsessed with the Escape, take a long look at the back suspension of that vehicle. It looks as if you run over a match stick, it will snap.

While I'm not a fan of Ford cars, they do have good trucks. It amazes me that Ford doesn't have a true off-road vehicle in its lineup to compete with the Wrangler.

When I get my first car, it will either be a Patriot or Ford Escape. If the Patriot was available in V6 i'd probablly go for that, but the 2008 Escape is more powerful and looks awesome!

This might be old news, but I heard that Hummer will be releasing a H4 in 2009 or 2010 that will be very similar to the 4 door Wrangler.
