I just had my Jeep in the shop for a couple fixes, including a fluid and filter for the CVT. 2008 with 140,000 miles.

I had called a (now closed) dealer at about 60,000 miles and was told that I didn't need to change it at all, as it was a 'sealed lifetime unit' and never needed servicing. Turns out, that's not the case, and I am now 20,000 overdue for the service, with a lifetime warranty that may or may not still be valid.

Aaaaaanyway, I got it changed.

I looked at the receipt this evening and it says "Drain Auto Trans Fluid, Adjust Bands, Replace Filter with ATF4"

Parts numbers are:
5191890AA, Filter Transmission Oil
5189838AA, Gasket Oil Pan
2x 5191185AA Fluid Automatic Transmission

They only charged me $169.95 for the service. Seems really low compared to other posts on here.

Did they accidentally use the wrong fluid? It sounds like our transmissions need CVT-4 not ATF4.

This dealer seemed to do everything else right so I'd be surprised if they put the wrong stuff in there, but you never know.

The part# given( 5191185AA )is the CVT+4 part #. Probably just an error when doing your RO. ATF+4 is used in 99.9% of Chrysler auto's now so it may just be reflex to write/type that.

However, I would just drop back in and mention it. Point out to the service manager( talk to him/her only! )that while the part# given is for the CVT+4 fluid the RO description states ATF+4. Your tranny will not last long without the correct CVT fluid. If there is ANY doubt make them swap it.

Keep that RO slip howevever and hang onto it even if they do a fluid swap to make sure the right fluid was used. It is a paper trail for you showing possible dealer error( i.e. wrong fluid used )if the tranny pukes.

The fluid part number comes back as Mopar CVT+4 fluid in a 1 gallon jug, so they used the right fluid. Probably the computer only has ATF programmed into it's comment section or something.

Thats about the same price I was quoted.
I went into the dealer to get my CVT serviced at 60,000 miles and they told me that since it's a CVT to not even waste my money and to come back at 90,000 miles to have it done. They quoted about $165 for the CVT fluid, filter, and labor.

Dam its soo cheap for you guys down in the States.. Just had mines done...
They charged me...

9x 946ML Bottles CVTF+4 at $22.49 a bottle (Shouldn't it be 8 bottle max? Ripped off)
Filter/Gasket: $102
Labour $99

With taxes and everything, it was like $420 CDN as they gave me 10% off for ordering through their service appnt online which I didn't. Guess it breaks even for the extra bottle of CVT fluid they charged, so I didnt make a big deal.

I called around, wasn't cheap.

I even called Chrysler down in Buffalo and they quoted me $315 which is cheaper but I didn't want to drive down there...
