So I recently bought a new 2011 Patriot Latitude FDII in Metallic Grey. I love it and only have one slight complaint. I want more speaker then whats there. I also have intentions to replace the deck as well.

I was wondering which speakers are the best in terms of cost and sound?

In regards to the deck I know that I need a couple kinds of adapters or what not. I also want my steering wheel controls to work when I do, what exactly do I need for that? I have tried to read other posts but I get confused with all the part numbers. Would it be cheaper to go with the MyGig and if so, can you program the MyGig with international maps, because I currently am stationed in Germany but will be PCSing back to the states in the future.

Any help is much appriciated.

A NEW MyGig unit is going to need at LEAST $1500 out of your checking account. Maybe more. Mopar sells the 430N MyGig with Nav for about $2K. There are some decent aftermarket head units out there for a lot less money. None that have the 30 gb HDD, though. Some of the aftermarket head units will work with the factory steering wheel controls, some wont. A good source of information on this is www.crutchfield.com.
I have the same problem, I dont like the speakers in my 2011. My last Patriot was a 2009 with the Boston Acoustics system, and there's a world of difference in sound quality. I plan to go with the Sony X-Plode 6x9 3-way speakers. Thats a good middle of the road speaker at a decent price. Phase 2 of that project will likely be a 5-channel amp and an 8" subwoofer.
BCSB (Bryan) http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/member.php?u=7825, sells a custom made sub-box that fits in the factory location, for about $80. Thats the way to go for me, I use the cargo area alot and there is no way I can lose any room to a freestanding sub enclosure or a bazooka. He started a thread on his upgrade, and its pretty detailed.

I used to compete in SPL competitions, if you give us a budget to work with, I can go through products I have used and see what would fit the bill the best.

Biggest questions are=
Are you going to amp them at some point
Are you more worried about base response, or some semblance of sound quality.

Well I may plan on amping them in the future but not immediate plans. Im trying to spend 100 or less per speaker. I want sound quality of bass. But cheaper is always better then not.

With the MyGig, I need the ablity to load different maps into it as my duty station changes. Is that possible?

I think all the CD loaded units are able to be upgraded. You may have to pay extra for a European map if you buy in the states, or vice-versa.

$100/speaker? or $100/ pair. either way you can get great speakers for that price. I got the JBL gto 938s and love them. Polk audio has some nice stuff in that range also. I recommend using some of the money to invest in an amp. It makes a world of difference at louder volumes.
