So sometimes when it rains heavy(like today) I get a horrible sound/vibration from the exhaust, the revs drop, and the Jeep begins to stall. It seems like water maybe getting into the muffler somehow.

When I first got the Jeep and took it around my in-laws backyard(mild off-road) in the snow I did bend the muffler upward on one side and I wonder if I cracked something.

Anybody have any ideas before I get the jack and stands out? Ah screw it, gotta paint it anyway!

One of the products of combustion is WATER (usually in vapor form).

Ever notice the dripping tail pipes?

If your muffler is bent up it could be trapping the water. A heavy rainy day means more humidity = more water in the products of combustion as well as already saturated air so it precipitates out.

It is probably not the problem.

Just wanted to pass on the tidbit of knowledge that fire does produce water.

Have you done any mods to your engine's intake system?

No mods, and I am aware that condensation is a byproduct of the combustion engine. It only happens if there is very heavy rain or if I get excited and drive through a huge puddle :D. Due to the muffler being bent up, I think water is get trapped between the outside of the muffler and the heat shield above it. I will update when I get time to pull it apart.
