Mine were factory fitted when I bought it. I was lucky enough to get the $3000 "freedom pack" at no extra cost. It came with side steps, tow bar, nudge bar, window weather sheilds and bonnet protector.
They will quite often come up for sale on Ebay as no one wants them. They are a pain in the ar5e and you will end up ripping them off on the smallest of speed bumps.
I have to do the "commodore shuffle" over speed bumps at shopping centre car parks or it scrapes. Rather embarrassing considering its a Jeep.

BTW: ground clearance with side steps is a measily 120mm unloaded and drops as much as 30-40mm with a full car load.
I guess I might want to reconsider, knowing the numerous speed humps I encounter at work!!! I was interested in getting steps coz I feel it gives the illusion that the Pat's ride height (wheelarch-over-tyre clearance) is lower but, at the compromise of ground clearance over humps, forget it :( Might have to invest in H&R lowered springs later down the track.

it sure does give the illusion that it is low. Most likely because it is!
Most people think I have lowered it and try and convince me that its lowered when it really isnt.
I think of if more like a chrome bodykit ;)

20x9.5 and +40 is more of a RWD style wheel, definately not suitable for a patriot. Patriots have very narrow wheel arches and speaking from experience, an 8-8.5 inch wide wheel is about the maximum. My 255's (on an 8.5 inch wheel) are within a couple of millimeters from rubbing on the inside and dead level with the outter edge of the guard

Ideal tyres for 20 inch would be 245/40 R20, its about 3/4 of an inch taller overall diameter the stock 17s

20 inch srt wheels from the caliber would look awsome on the pat...lowered and even better.
