I've currently got a Jeep Patriot and found this forum excellent source of info.

I'm now looking at the new 2011 Grand Cherokee and I'm struggling to find a good forum where people are discussing it at length both in Australia and abroad. www.jeepforum.com isn't too bad.
The australian Ausjeep seems useless. I posted some very good talking points there two days ago and have not had anyone respond. Very strange considering its a hot topic new car on the block.

Anyone know any better site, let us know! :)
Cheers

The marketing demographic that buys Grand Cherokee's doesn't really meet the internet forum posting one. Luxury SUV's, no matter how trail tough they may be, aren't really going to have owners that talk about modding them or off-roading them. I would also guess most stay on-road since they wouldn't want to scratch their $38,000 + investment.

????

Lots of Grands are on the trail and the aftermarket trail mods for the GC far exceeds the Patriot's. Check mallcrawling above, they go well beyond obsessing over muffler color as a "mod". :)

I checked out mallcrawlin, and you're right...lots of older GC's are on the trails and modded (I saw a lot of 1993-1999 and some 2002-2005 talk), but I couldn't find a single post about someone wheeling a $38,000+ dollar 2011 GC. There was talk about the new model and the new features and what not. You can pick up older GC's pretty cheap, and they are great trail vehicles, but the OP original question was why aren't there any good forums for 2011 GC's. Come 2019, you're going to find all sorts of people wheeling the 2011 GC's pretty hard and all sorts of cool mods and lifts available for them.

Wheelers come from a variety of income levels and many new rigs do hit the trails. It just takes some time for the aftermarket to start catching up. Your point about the earlier Grands being beefed up more often is well taken. The reason they're modified more frequently isn't so much their lower cost, it's because they're equipped with solid front and rear axles. This makes suspension upgrades and axle swaps much easier and more cost effective. $.02

Thanks guys, I guess both of you have a point. Time will tell. I wasn't just looking for people talking about modifications, more to the point that the new GC was being talked about in general, good and bad points, things going wrong, things going well. etc..

Anyway, will keep looking.
