I know the ESP Full off subject has been discussed in length before. I understand the difference between full and partial off, and how (in theory) you should be able to switch between partial ESP and full ESP off. I've tried holding the ESP button for 5, 10, 20 seconds, and still do not see the message or hear the chime. Also tried shifting from park to drive, and vise-versa as the manual suggest. With all of this in mind, i've come to the conclusion that my Patriot was one of the ones included in the TSB.

A little background on my car.... i just bought a used 2008 patriot sport FD1. It's in great condition, and i think (hope) this is the only issue it may have. Since i bought it used, and not from a jeep dealership, i'm pretty sure it won't be covered under warranty. I want to go to a Jeep Dealer, and have them "flash" it to fix the ESP OFF indicator. I'm just wondering what other people have paid for this. I know a lot of folks got this done under warranty, so no money was involved. But my Patriot was used, and i'll have to pay out-of-pocket. Just curious as to the average price, so i don't get screwed here.

just go to the dealership and inform them about the TSB and they'll re flash it

Any TSB should be free no mater how old the vehicle or how many miles. It is a factory defect, not premature wear.

Thanks guys. I didn't know TSB's were something that could be "free of charge." But, jepstr67 made a good point about the fact that’s it’s a manufacturing default….not a warranty thing. They are a few Jeep dealers in my area. I'm going to try to get it done in the next week or so.

Since it's a 2008, have them check the lower control arm bolts were replaced. That was a big one for 2007-08 model years. And jepstr is absolutely correct that you should not be charged for either repair.

Got mine fixed today. The Dealer knows of the bulletin and when I went to the cashiers office my bill was the grand total of (N/C) No Charge $0.00 Awesome, I love it when I get something for free even-though if they owe us it.

Even if i take it to a Jeep Dealer i didn't buy from, still shouldn't get charged? Awesome, didn't know that.
Oh Yes! I took my car to a dealer in another town and they caught that the control arm bolts had not been replaced by my regular dealer. Whoever (dealer) does the warranty/TSB work gets to bill Chrysler for the hours.

Middleberg, how long did it take to get it fixed? Did you have to scheudle an appointment, or just drive in and have it worked out?
I don't know about where you live, but I live in an area where Jeep is very popular and people have a lot of money. The Service and Parts dept. is open until 9pm and they have about 30 bays so I just walked in at 7pm and was out by 7:30. It took about ten minutes total to do the paper work and at the cashiers office. I don't know why they took so long and why so much paper work if it's free but oh well. When I walked in they wrote you up a ticket and had me sign it to verify the work being done and they will take your keys. Then I sat in the lounge and watched NFL Full Access where they were predicting the Steelers would win the S. Bowl. Than they call you to the cashiers office to pick up your keys and sign a receipt for $0.00. Might be good to call first to see if they are busy or not. Call them and speak dealer talk to them, " Ya I want to see if I would have to make an appointment to get my outdated ABS Module software flashed" If they need more info tell them there is a Service Bulletin Problem you want to get checked out. Good Luck, Let us Know how it goes. It won't be a problem.
