Has anyone ordered/purchased their Jeep with after-market add-ons as part of the price?

I'm going to be getting an '08 Sport, and really want the fog lamps and UConnect. I'll be ordering my Pat, and want to see about getting those features worked in as part of my order...I'm hoping I'll be able to get the dealer to put them on before I take delivery.

Anyone done that? How did it go for you? Do you get charged labor?

package 77n is ordered as part of the patriot. It includes front and rear mud guards, front wind deflector, and stainless steel entry guards. The factory puts those parts in the back of your vehicle before it leaves and the dealer installs them.

U-connect and fog lights can be worked into the deal. You might even get free installation if you try hard enough.

one little item that our '08 did not come with was that window shade style cover that covers up the trunk area. we looked at some '07's that did have them and said no biggie we can just get one later. HA that little cover is $240!! It was nice of the parts manager to tell me to wait a few years and it will come down in price like the Grand Cherokees which is $80. Think I'll just keep checking ebay and maybe even a junk yard--it's not a huge deal but sheesh that is high for what is basically a horizontal window shade.

It does dress up the cargo area a bit when it is pulled, but besides the show and tell for friends...who really sees it?
And with the rear windows tinted you can't see cargo very well.

I have actually found it in the way more often than not when loading the hatch,
and the only good place to store it is on the floor across the rear seat foot area.

Guess I'm saying that imo, you are not missing a whole lot.

:blah::D

Usually the price of the aftermarket and labor would be added to your cost.
The salesman may just say 'Yea we can add fog lamps, it's $$amount.' But they would just be ordering them and installing them for you. You could also order them and bring them in yourself later.

Before you ask him, find out the aftermarket price of the items and also ask him (and/or the service manager) how much the labor would be if you brought them the items instead of ordering from them. You may see that figure from the dealer come down after you ask that. :)

Fog lamps are not that easy of an install.
The U-Connect is not that easy of one either, with most of the aftermarkets (if not all(?)) for the Patriot being the dash mount not the mirror mount.

If you were going to have the garage put a couple extras on, those would be good ones to choose imo.

I wish I had the U-Connect myself, and aim eyeing the aftermarkets currently.

Good Luck,
Jim

I have U-Connect in my Pat/Riot. I was not sure about it as I was using a bluetooth headset, but WOW I can not live without it now! I would also suggest loading on the stuff you want/need as from my research and past experience the cost and hassle are much reduced.

It's THAT much? Holy Crap! Most other cars have it for less than $100.

Good thing that when I was bargaining and we seemed to hit a deal, I said "toss in the cargo cover and you have a deal." I probably should have seen if they'd have done the bike rack too.
