Well, I finally got the front lights installed along with the Carr Lightwing. I still need to finish aiming them properly. It was raining when I installed it and I forgot my camera for pictures. This Lightwing is designed to install where the factory plate bolts to the front bumper, but I wanted it to sit a little lower and tighter. I taped the front bumper and marked off two new drill holes about an inch below the factory plate dimples. The kit comes with self-tapping sheet metal bolts that are just a hair too short so I also replaced the two top bolts. You can still use the supplied bolts though to tap out the holes without the lightwing in place. I also had to use two washers on the top bolts due to the slight curve of the front bumper. The lights are Pilot Navigator series 55-watt (I think I'm going to paint the chrome grills black though). All in all, I like the way it turned out.

I still need to install the light switch correctly. The light kit supplies a wiring harness, but the wires into the cabin are not long enough. I also want to re-route the light wires from coming through the grill to feeding from under the bumper.

Very nice Todde!

I've been looking at those too. Best way to add the lights I've seen. It's great you did this, and I assume we'll see a step by step write up soon.

All you need now is a Penguins plate, should look good in the black frame.

Nice job & looks good!! I'm just a little worried that they be a little exposed that far forward of the front bumper. Front end shunts & off roading rocks may crack the lens or twist the bracket.....just a thought!!

Yea, best part is if I remove it and just bolt a vanity plate on, the holes get covered like it never happened. It's a compromise to be sure. I wanted them on top of the bumper, but this works almost as well and no permanent holes in the top requiring a new bumper cover.

PSssshhhhyeaa...as if I could drive around Philly with a Penguins plate! :p

I think if I come across a rock that tall, I'll have more to worry about then just the driving lights!

Of course you know that was tongue in cheek. When I got my Patriot I ordered it as not many FDII's around, but there was one Orange one. And all I could think was, that's Flyer's colors. If I had a black one, I'd have gold accents for sure.

Maybe this one for you:

Is there a Canadian supplier?
Not sure. I tried looking up dealers on the manufacturer website here: http://www.carr.com but it only accepts US zip codes. But I did find this.

If you are in Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or would like Express Shipping, Please order by calling our office at 800.800.1084
There are a bunch of online retailers that sell them too and I'm sure one of them ships to Canada.

I was just showing Todde, an alternative for him, since he lives near Philly. And Todde and I are friends, even though we support hockey teams that are cross-state rivals.

Anyone who would willingly display Flyers paraphernalia. So does the Lightwing come with hardware to mount it?
Hmmm...bagging on the Flyers and asking questions? Should I even answer? :D Yes, it does come with hardware, but with the thickness of the foam between the urethane bumper and the metal bar behind it, I had to get slightly longer boltes. I used the supplied bolts as they are self tapping, then used bolts a 1/2" longer (only because I couldn't 1/4" longer ones) bolts for the top two.

Oh, it's very light weight cast aluminum, and it uses 5/16" bolts. Unless you're bolting on 50lb lights, it's not going anywhere. It feels strong and flex free too.

I got mine from JC Whitney for a 1999 Wrangler, it came up as a price error at $38 so I ordered it on the spot. I'd also try a Google shopping search. There are plenty of places that sell them in the $80 range with free shipping.
