I looked around but could not find any available for my White Sport. Local NAPA auto store got me a roll of 1" by 24' flat black for $44. Cut a small piece and played with cutting and how to make it fit and look OK and found out that if I used my cut off saw at a 45 degree angle it fit and looked good. Finished it last Saturday and very happy with the result. Will post picture next week after i get the pin striping done this Wed. You will want to angle cut the ends by the door openings to make it look OK but with the finished ends on the E-Bay ones it will make it much easier to complete. I used masking tape to make the line and mounted the molding under it so that I could see the line from above. Worked very well and only took an hour or so to completely do the complete install.

On my white Pat I used 1" plain black. Look at my gallery for further pictures of same as well as the one above which doesn't show it very well though.

I did it!!!

I replaced the tape with 3M tape, I bought a large molding and I cutted and installed.

The color?? gray with a little silver strip... match very cool with my rims!!!! and very cheap!!

want some pics???

Did you have any moldings originally? Pictures will always be nice. I'm debating on a color. Black ones are the cheapest but I don't know if they fit well with my color.

I did it by myself.

I was looking something "gray" like the limited, but when I saw this I liked more than a flat gray. I cut the pieces, they sold me 13.15 ft = 20 dlls. I like the match between the rims and the molding. Nope, my Patriot is Sport, without any molding LOL.

sorry for the pic... is from my phone LOL! and is old, because I installed the factory-jeep side window deflector ;)

PatriotFan, looks good! I keep meaning to add these to mine at some point.

My 09 Patriot already has door moldings. Is that a factory option or did the original owner add it?
I think if it were the factory molding, it would have been silver, not black. So my guess would be the previous owner installed them.

It took me over a year to get to this simple mod :) I finally bought a set of black molding trim from Pep Boys for $20. I'll do the cutting and installation tomorrow. Now since I tinted my front windows, installed mud flaps, nerf bars and roof basket, black molding should fit right in. Pics to come.

Body side molding aka door moldings are the devil! You don't know how much I hate my factory silver ones. I didn't even notice them until I finished my test drive, but the Latitude had all the features I wanted, so I just went through with the purchase. THEY HAVE TO GO. It's been over a year with them. I hate it.

Some people get them for the look. I would pinstripe it if I wanted some kind of accent, but it really breaks up the car and doesn't add too much protection. Just don't park next to other cars.

It does add protection believe me. I saw it on my previous cars when some idiot parking next to you slams his/her door against yours. I'd rather replace a molding than fix door dings on the Jeep. I always park further away as possible but what can I say: Patriot attracts other vehicles :) Plus I like the look. Not trying to persuade or argue as everyone is entitled to own opinion.

It was kit # MDG121
1 7/8" molding
Mine is the same color. I'm thinking about stalking some people at Walmart to see where doors of various vehicles might hit before installing. I've had mine a little more than 3 weeks so, yeah, I'm super protective. Or, do I really need to do the research? Anyone? Is there a best place to put the molding to protect my 2015 Patriot?
