I have been thinking about the new 2" spring lift kit for a week. I love thinking about installing the springs and getting bigger tires. Then I think about the lifetime drivetrain warranty and how making these mods may void the warranty out.

Has anyone installed the kit on their 2009 Patriot? Are you worried about voiding the warranty out?

Just trying to get a feeling if others have the same concern. I left a message at the local dealership to see what they have to say. I'd love to install the kit, but that warranty was one of the kickers that let me buy the Jeep!

I have the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty and I'm not worried about having Stus Coils on my Patriot. I will deal with it if or when need be, I like a good argument with the Dealer Service Writer, been there before. I saw a Jeep Dealer Website that was selling Lift Kits for the Wrangler, what are they going to do about a Patriot with 2" lift. First they have to prove it caused whatever problem you have with your Patriot and when they can't, they will honor the Warranty. I guess I'll see if the time comes, no use worrying about it. Thats just my opinion.

I guess they don't want to make you a lifetime customer and buy a Chrysler vehicle again.

taking a chance

Coverage will vary by dealer.
There are lots of factors that will affect whether a specific dealer will cover something under warranty.
If dealers had their way they would cover everything under warranty.
But warranty work has to approved by corporate,
If a dealer is found trying to push everything under warranty, they can get audited and all warranty work gets closely scrutinized.
So you can have been getting everything covered for years, then all of a sudden they deny it because. A stickers weight put undo burden on the drivetrain.
Joking with the sticker but you get the point

Terasec is absolutely right, even if you left your riot bone stock and had the dealer do every recommended maintenance, I give it a 50/50 chance chrysler will honor the lifetime. I plan on owning my patriot forever and I have a history of making 300,000 miles. Only time will tell. I am very curious if anyone has over 100,000 and had power train work done under warranty.

That's why I'm going to talk to my dealer several times before ordering, just to get a feel for how they might look at things. The first guy I spoke with yesterday said that the lift may affect how they look at the suspension if I had a lift done and had problems in that area. He said that a lift would probably not affect the way they look a drivetrain issue.

Of course, he also kept saying that if I get a Mopar kit and the dealer installs it then there would be no issue at all. I kept telling him there was no Mopar kit, but he wouldn't listen. :)

You guys are more paranoid than me! :D

My dealer told me I needed a lift so I could fit better tires. They fix my suspension parts without questions about the lift. Your dealers must be ass holes.
where do you live!?!?

I just had another outer tie rod replaced under warranty. This was with CRDSTU's bright yellow springs installed. No one said a word about it.

I drive on some roads that are horrible, so I do not blame the tie rod failure on the lift. It would have happened either way. The pot holes here could swallow a prius....

Damn Schoat333, was it the same one as last time? At this rate you'll need suspension repairs at every oil change.

Yep, drivers side again. It has to be the roads because its the same one failing, and I drive the same roads each day. Thankfully, we are moving in a few weeks, so I will be taking the highway all the way to work. That should save on suspension parts. :pepper:

Following LeBron to South Beach, eh? :D

The dealership down in N. Van exchanged the tranny and clutch for free on the patriot. The tranny specialist said the lift has absolutely nothing to do with transmission problems as the lift keeps the stock angles for the drivetrain components. Go to a different dealership dude, perhaps one with a brain. lol good luck yo ~ peace
