Does anyone know of a website where I am able to purchase transmission fluid for my Jeep Patriot? I checked with the dealership, and it's freaking crazy how much they are charging for 1 quart ($80). If anyone knows of a website, it will help me out tremendously.

Why would you need transmission fluid?? Dealer check 60,000 miles with serious hot/cold, offroad use. Every 120,000 miles with normal usage ( most of us!) Checking or changing this fluid is not a DIY option as you will need the correct depth/ temp stick & the temp chart that goes with it.The Jatco unit is semi sealed for life & there are no serviceable parts in it. Dont forget the the special rubberoid fluid works at amazingly high pressures in this unit & the slightest under/overfill can result in fluid foaming/heat which can result in loss of drive or complete transmission breakdown. It is probably available on the open market but as CVT's are not yet front line trans. its availability may be limited.

It's says on the manual that you must change the fluid every 60k miles. I'm just around that mileage right now. My family owns an auto shop, so I'm expecting my father to at least know how to change the oil himself. Thanks for the phone number, I will have to check it out. I checked there website and nowhere does it have that model.

Are you talking 5 speed manual trans oil , or rubberoid non slip CVT fluid??

He can definitely do it himself, but he will need the special dipstick tool to check the level when he's done. The tool measures the fluid level and temperature of the fluid, then you use a conversion chart to determine the proper level.

Actually, I think I've been wrong about it reading the temperature. Looks like you need to use a scan tool to read the temperature.

Just got back from the Dealer talking with the Heavy Mechanic. We were talking about my CVT problem and he informed me that the fluid change for that thing is $700.00! I might need my CVT replaced. Stay tuned. The very last time I buy a CVT trans vehicle!

someone misquoted you.

CVT+4 Fluid (qt PN 5191184AA) Mopar List.......$27.80

CVT+4 Fluid (gal PN 5191185AA) Mopar List .....$107.00

I would LOVE to sell the qts for $80 all day long, but it's "only" $27.80.

what kind of trans fluid does a 4x2 2014 jeep patroit use?

What type of transmission? CVT? Or manual?

If it's CVT, Valvoline makes a "CVT" fluid which is an OEM equivalent and a whole lot cheaper, the filter and seal kit can also be found on Amazon for under 18 dollars. I bought the fluid and filter kit for under 60 dollars and paid my local transmission shop 100 for the labor.

Amsoil makes a cvt oil as well. I would change the fluid much sooner than 60k if your doing anything more than tooling around town. I always balk at the "lifetime" service of anything automotive.

Actually, for 2014 the Patriot was also offered with a 6 sp automatic tranny sourced from Hyundai that calls for ATF SP-4 fluid.

I completely agree, the CVT is the weak point in our vehicles longevity and more frequent fluid changes are cheap insurance. The transmission shop recommended a new filter and fluid every 20k miles, I'd rather be safe than sorry so this is the schedule I'm choosing to follow. 20k sounds like a tad over kill for CVT fluid, but then again so is Mobil 1 oil every 3,000 miles.

Exactly. I had "lifetime" transmission fluid in the mazda, at 98k I demanded it to be changed. You should have seen it when they drained it. It was black, like motor oil, and smelled burnt. After that intial change with fresh stuff, I did anothr change 5000k later and it still have sediment from the past oil. The third change it came out red....Now, I change it every 3rd oil change. The transmission worked so much better after that!

No fluid in a vehicle is lifetime.
