from what i understand the FDII has 1in over the sport and north editions FDI's check you owners manual I'm pretty sure it states the differences in their somewhere.

remember if considering tires you only get the benefit of the RADIUS of the tire and not the diameter. Plus if clearance is a big issue please check the knowledge base thread on tires that fit and those that don't, examples and measurements aplenty in that thread

Standard clearance is 201mm (8") for FD1.

Some say it's a flaw in the Patriot that the ground clearance looks low - however it's pretty much in the same ballpark as many other SUVs:

Range Rover sport = 172mm (normal) 227mm (off road)
Subaru Forester (New model) = 215mm
Nissan Qashqai = 188mm
Land Rover Freelander 2 = 210mm MAX
BMW X3 = 203mm
Honda CR-V = 170mm

So I think there may be an element of optical illusion with the square sides and wheel arch shapes that make it look lower than it actually is. Certainly looking at the evidence, we're pretty much in the middle of the pack.

FD1 is supposed to be 8.1" with 215/60/17's and 8.4" with 215/65/17 tires. FDll is 9". I can tell you i have the 215/60/17's on mine and someone that works right next to me has the same vehicle with the 215/65/17's and his looks higher off the ground, and his is not trail rated or lifted.

Then there's the Schoat edition in the states, and the crdstu model in the land down under. They have 12" or so :D
