Hi all,
Weather was drop dead gorgeous so went motoring.:pepper:
Pat was cozy. While the fan was turned off, opened the glove box to cold draft, no draft with fan on. At home I opened the glove box and rotated my hand at the rear of the box. It is a void. So now I wonder if the glove box is too full:doh: articles will go where?
Anyone else notice this or experience the draft?

I took the drafy Pat ................

to the dealership. Technician removed glove box and shone flashlight around and said all was well.

I'm concerned because if a draft is coming in, it's coming from somewhere and I don't believe this is normal.

Does anyone have any ideas?

The top glove box on the Caliber is a Mini Chiller ( I miss this feature) . I wonder if some of the shared Cali design is letting cool air through??

If I'm not mistaken, behind the glove box and above the cabin air filter is also where the recirculate door is located. Perhaps it's not closing all the way?

Normal. Two options:

  • You likely do not have the filtre. (An empty slot with cover exists) If you purchase one you can simply insert it.
  • Another option if you do not want the air filtre would be to use tape to seal off the cover where the air is leaking out.

The funny thing is that even if your vehicle does not come with a filter installed, the cover is there - or it should be at least. My Patriot came with the cover already installed but no filter. I believe only the limited's come with a filter installed. I just bought a JoeBecker Cabin Air Filter(tm) and viola!

So far .................

thanks to all for your comments and suggestions.

The rear of the glove box in a 2010 is shaped like a U where I put my hand through to a space and then an upright barrier about 4" behind/in front of the box. This is the source of the blast of cold outside air comes from.

I'll check the recirculating control and make sure it's off--it's not something I normally use though.

With all the leaking Pats out there I'm afraid what else the draft could be bringing with it.

Dealership doesn't think anything is "missing" like an air filter or anything.

I don't intend to let this go--there has to be a reasonable explanation and fix.

Drop the glove box to get a better view

drop the glove box, so you can see the cabin air filter slot, and can check for holes/gaps/missing parts. It's easy.

Empty the Glove Box. Put your palms on the sides at the back (as close to the rubber stoppers as possible) and squeeze together. Once you get the two sides squeezed together (the "cuts" at the back of the box should be closed) and ease toward you and it will drop. You should not have to pull down.
