Took the JGC to the Kankakee Wildlife area this afternoon.

10 Mile Road was wet and muddy in spots, with the spur roads a little more challenging.

One Lane Road, I started down, but soon realized it might be worse than I expected, so I backed out. Being only one vehicle, I didn't want to get stuck in the backcountry without a towing/or ride partner. If I had a buddy, I would have tried it.

Give me a call sometime and I'll go if nothing is going on. I'd give those roads a try and besides cabin fever is starting to set in.

I did it on the spur of the moment. My wife and daughter went up to Chicago and I just got bored, so I headed out the door with no place specific to go.

Yea, it was a little too muddy to attempt alone.

There's a 25 mile road like that out of Longville MN. "The old grade road" It was a railroad line used for logging. It is pretty level but it can get very wet and very muddy. Much of it is only a few inches above "sea level" through swamps. It is always a guess at some point along the road if it is worth getting up enough speed to make it past a wet spot or if turning around is the best option. I've done both. Like you say, alone is bad. Alone with a winch isn't quite so bad.

One Lane Rd is actually the top of a levee separating two rivers and with our recent warm tempatures and rainfall, it is very muddy.

unless all the trees around you are too small to hold the weight of a vehicle, or there arent any trees. lol

Hence, the winch anchor.
