the big thing about the GC, well at least in this part of the world is the dealer network. we have toyota, ford, chev, mazda honda and chrysler dealers here. the GC is the best SUV out of all of them...espically if everything on the spy shots make it to market. the highlander is JUNK,

Folks, just tooting my own horn here...but I think I summed this up in my post on this very thread lol. I love the new Jeep GC, it looks great...works for my family needs. This is why I have a Z71 and an 95ZJ though, they both do wonders for me off road...while the Patty we all own takes care of the family...perfect example once again. Horn toot...

Will you buy one? Or are you in the same camp as I am with the Commander? I love the Commander but it is out of my price range and does not get the kind of mileage I need.

I have to drive it first. if its close to my friends touraeg then yah i would probably buy one.

i have driven the hilander its garbage.

i got a pat for the milage for work. so maybe for the family ride i would get the gc for sure...

the 2011 GC is desperately needed for Chrysler to get back into the SUV market competing against the japanese SUV's. many of the domestic SUV's like the GC, Explorer, and Tahoe have seen a huge decline in sales mostly due to people flocking to the imports like the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander/4Runner/Sequoia, Nissan Pathfinder, Hyundai blahh-blahh, etc....the list goes on.

the 2011 GC will blow the competition out of the water spec wise with it's Mercedes-like styling and it's great off-roading ability with the hydraulic lift and 4x4 system. it's now just a matter of marketing the heck out of the vehicle so that people buy it.

the problem with the current and previous generations of GC is that as each gen came about, it strayed more and more away from what the public wanted. they wanted something that was more fuel efficient and served as a "family vehicle" . the GC is too small to be considered a family SUV, and the rear seat is extremely uncomfortable for long road trips. the 2011 GC will bring the vehicle closer to the public desires by increasing fuel economy and size, while not sacrificing its off-roading ability

this jeep was actually designed while still part of Daimler/Chrysler..it shares the Mercedes running gear and platform but was put on hold when they decided to sell Chrysler in a hurry to Ceberus. Ceberus never built it because of $$ and trying to sqeeze the most out of Chysler while not spending $ and then they went BK and you know the rest..it was designed to compete with the likes of Land Rover...lots of high end stuff but still very off-road capable...even without straight axles for you Jeep purest's...time to move into new technolgies...like old 1960's Land Rover "Series" vs. new Land Rover's...it still a very capable off road vehicle...just more reliable, safe and confortable.

i was saying that since day 1 when Cerebus took over. i knew what they were going to do with Chrysler...just like all private investment capital firms. they're not in the business to make products, they're in the business to make money. if that means throwing the corporation under the bus and gathering up all profits and assets and skipping town, they will do it.

when you have an economy driven by intangible assets such as stock shares, derivatives, and all of this bullsh*t securities trading...and NOT based on companies who make products and provide services...you get this kind of crap where great companies are bull-dozed, merged, and throw under the bus for a quick turn-around profit.

it makes my blood boil about Cerebus...

you are correct! and now GMAC and Chrsler Financial are also controlled by Ceberus...oh yea they also controll part of Albertsons grocery stores...and countless other "investments". Boat load of S**t.

any updates on the new GC, oh, and jeepster, the commander is a sweet ride too...reminds me of the G wagen my father had.

Yeah, I agree. The Gladiator fills a gap in the Jeep line -- there isn't a pick-up. A little narrower than the Chevy S-10, I imagine, but you can still use it to help your sister move!
My sister? Nahhh... she is plenty far way in California. Don't need her any closer.

Hehehehehe... JK...

the 2011 GC is a go, its on jeeps website now!

I have to agree with Jeepster, I've never liked the JGCs either. I wouldn't say that I hate them, but I've never been a fan of them. I think that Jeep needs to move forward with product design but to what end. It seems like every SUV company out there are bluring their products together. One of the reasons I like Jeeps so much is that they still look like Jeeps. Until 09 when Jeep made the lights on the Liberty square.

I like the Gladiator, I think it looks tough. I just don't like the side mounted spare. It looks like it would create a blind spot in the drivers vision. It kind of makes me miss my dads old Scrambler.

Jeep is always going to be Jeep to me. It's not so much what they look like but the underpinnings Jeep has put under them. No where will you find a company that offers as much of a diverse 4WD system as Jeep does. And because of that I will always be a Jeep man...besides people like Jeeps. When you fix yours up its guaranteed you will make at least one person become a Jeep lover and enthusiast. Get to going.

what I like about the new GC is that you get all the lux from say a vw touareg, merc ML class etc without the pretentious stigma that comes with it.

I like the looks. They don't make me say "wow" though.
It's the specs that I like.
The variable road height.
The Quadra Drive II with limited slip difs.
Gets 16/22 mpg while still giving 260 ft-lbs of torque and 280 hp.

It is better across the board compared to a loaded 4x4 trail rated Liberty or 2009 GC.

I think best vehicle comparison would be a Range Rover... except at 60% the price (hopefully).

I have always loved the Grand Cherokee the most out of all Jeeps. It's the one that got me onto Jeeps.

the 2011 one looks better at the front, looks like **** at back
05-10 looks good at back and **** at front.
99-04 looks good at front and ok at back.
I'd get the WJ/G personally. I hope to one day.
