2011 Patriot 2.4 l in drive at idle RPMs fluctuate on its own from 600 to 900 even up to 1000 I clean throttle body it didn't help I was told it could be my idle air control valve now I understand that these are in the throttle body and they cannot be replaced so I have to spend $250 for a new throttle body just for the idle air control valve advance Auto parts says it's a separate piece AutoZone says it's in the throttle body and you cannot take them out

Patriots don't have an idle air valve. Just the electronic throttle body. Unlike older cable operated throttle bodies, there is no need for a bypass idle air valve. Any codes?

Change the plugs recently?

Is it driving normally and just has the erratic idle? If it drives normal with normal power I'd think the throttle body was fine. Something might be telling the computer to raise and lower the idle speed like a vacuum leak maybe. I have seen ect sensors go bad, but still read within the normal range, thereby not setting a code. If the sensor is telling the computer the engine is cold, it may think it needs to idle up.

Yes it drives fine with no issues so far I'll check for vacuum leaks. Could it be low pressure in cylinder, maybe head gasket? In drive while still,if I put on heater blower motor bogs down sometimes almost stall. Could it electrical without code maybe alternator is getting tired. I was told it could be voltage regulator. I think it is in pcm. I hope not.

Thankfully the voltage regulator is in the alternator. Have you checked the voltage? Keep in mind our alternators have an overrun clutch so to see full voltage output you have to slowly increase rpms as you watch the test meter.

Hello i own a 2014 Patriot 6 speed automatic 2.4l engine 53000 miles had motor mounts and trans mount replaced and throttle body cleaned wow what a difference, not sure which one did it or maybe both. But what a difference no more vibration at idle at stoplight and smoother running at all speeds.
