I've seen a couple of mentions of this on here somewhere. But has anyone looked at the specs on the new Grand Cherokee?

http://www.allpar.com/trucks/jeep/2011-cherokee.html

The trail rated version, with the adjustable ride height, decent fuel economy (for 4500 lbs).

I could easily see this in my garage. I just hope that the prices start below $30k for a base model (maybe $45k for the top of the line?)

Unibody design and Independent Suspension, no more straight axles. I'm sure it rides great.

I want the trailhawk!

The gladiator is very cool, but still too much "concept" and not enough "production".

I'm always afraid that what you see there that looks so cool, will be tamed down so much if it is ever produced.

I really like the look of it. The front looks a bit like a Saab or the LR2. cleaner lines. More of a Yukon type stance too. The Pewter color in the original post is real nice too.

Its awsome! buy a wrangler if you want solid axles.....

the air suspension, saddle color leather, and tech goodies are for the consumer of the grand cherokee anyways!

no one wheels those hard anyways.

It says Jeep on it but it is not a Jeep. Moving towards on road power and performance in the Jeep brand Is flat out WRONG. Nice vehicle. Not a Jeep.

sure its a jeep...just because it has tech and on road performance don't mean it can't wheel. the air suspension and 4wd system in will suprise you ALOT.

Jeep does not need to ahve solid axles and lockers to be a JEEP....Look at the vw touareg, that thing can wheel, even tho most people would'nt, it can handle anything a stock wrangler 4x4 unlimited can. so the new grand will be just as good if not better than the vw in the bush. however, drop the air, stiffen the suspension and on road performance goes way up....

very very awsome ride if you ask me.

We are just always going to have a different definition of what is a Jeep and what is not.

We better all junk our Jeeps, then, and return the original Bantam, design. If we're going to argue what a Jeep is, then let's return to the roots and forget about ANY technological improvements over the last 65 years.

. . . . the last I saw was that the all IS Patriot had a 'Jeep' logo.

Of course, some of the same people today who cherish the XJ were very critical of it not being a 'real' Jeep. I'll challenge anyone who says it is not a 'real' Jeep, even with its square headligts and unibody design with a few creature comforts.

Can go on: how about the YJ not being a real Jeep because it had square headlights. Any Jeep enthusists should know that headlights make not a Jeep. By the way, the YJ is a real collector's vehicle today.

All 2WD Jeeps from the late 40's to present must not be real Jeeps.

Different models for different folks. Just because the Escort was made by Ford didn't mean the Mustang was going to be slow or not capable of it's name. Jeep has different models to do different things. You can't be mad at them for being smart, I would rather them be smart and produce practical and traditional vehicles than be stubborn and go out of business. Being in England I can see first hand this with Land Rover, they have a vehicle to cover every aspect and they all are capable of off roading. I see Jeep as the same, refinement for those who want it with off roading attached for those who need it.

I hate the Grand Cherokee. I always have. Even the AMC straight axle version. It was never a good replacement for the Wagoneer. Grand Cherokees just keep getting further and further from the mark the longer they continue to make them. I hate them. You can not argue that point.

The rest of your statement seem illogical to me.

Just because YOU hate them does'nt mean they are not a true "jeep" or that they are garbage. You are intitled to you opinion. Just because its your opinion does'nt mean its right!

I did not say it was a bad vehicle. In fact is said quote "Nice vehicle". You get so caught up in the fact that you believe I disagree with you that you can't even give me credit when I agree.

For many reasons, from styling to suspension, I think they are going the wrong direction. It may be a good seller. I hope it is for the sake of Chrysler in general. They need as many good sellers at they can get.

If we follow this to the extreme, we will at some point see a vehicle with a heavily stylized 7 slot grill built on the Challenger platform. Would we be looking at a 21st century Jeepster? Perhaps, but I think that is the wrong direction. I would like to see Jeep move toward capturing a greater utility market, like Hoosiermud pointed out, sarcastically, Jeep has manufactured many 4x2 delivery and industrial vehicles. There is a large market that could be captured with careful attention to what this kind of buyer wants. Tough durable economical vehicles. The New GC, as Kojack mentioned, is like the VW Toureg, and will get lost in that bloated sea of luxury, on road, SUVs because it is playing catch up the other vehicles in that market.
