In November 2007 I bought a brand new 2007 Limited, loved it right from the start. I was quite active on the forum here in the first few years, but as the car got older I didn’t frequent here as much. I almost sold the Patriot about 5 years ago and even came back to make a post about it, but in the end I didn’t sell it. So now after 10 years with the Jeep I’m finally giving it up. It has a host of little issues but the big issue is the Catalytic Converter. I’ve had problems with the Cat for more than a few years but it’s really done now. That’s okay, overall the car has been fantastic to me and I got 248000kms (154100 Miles) on it and I don’t feel it owes me anything. I did have the common problem for 07’s with the front end but I bought the extended warranty and it was covered.

I’m happy to report that last night I pulled the trigger and got a one year old 2017 North Edition with the North All Season Group, only 7500kms (4660 Miles) on it. I’m quite excited to pick it up tonight. Kinda funny that I got an 07 and then a 17. The first year and the last year they were made.

Anyways, I’m sure I’ll be seeing all of you around a lot more again!

Take Care

Nice, congratulations on the new ride! My '08 I purchased on 8/08 has done pretty well for me also. What kind of problems did you have with the cat conv. I'm at 185K right now and I get a smell in the cabin when stopped with the heater on, smells like exhaust and hot engine. No check engine light, and I've had a problem with persistent mice getting in the cabin. Did you trade in the '07, or keep it for running the snow drifts.

It started out as the check engine light going on occasionally, then the check engine light was on for probably a year and a half straight. It went off and it was near my etest time so I went and got the etest and it passed. It went back on a day later and has been on straight for another year and a half. The code was O2 Censor and something about a bad Cat. I had my doubts about what was really wrong with it. Then last weekend the car would shut off at any time. Could be at a stop light, could be on the highway driving fast. I could throw it in neutral turn the key off and then back on again and back into drive, not a pleasant experience. This was making the check engine light beep and flash. As well since this started I would get sometimes very little power taking off. Sometimes while driving the RPMs would drop suddenly. When the heater was on you could smell exhaust coming in through the vents. I believe the cat was plugged/broken and couldn’t get rid of the exhaust and was choking it out.

To be honest I didn’t get the newest problem of it shutting off checked out though. With all the other little things wrong with it I said its time for a new one. I needed an etest in the spring and that light had been on forever, in Canada if the light is on it’s a no pass automatically. I needed new front tires, back window didn’t go up, windshield fluid wouldn’t spray anymore, a tire pressure monitoring piece was missing from one of the tires, the side view was broken off and was kinda just sitting on the nub flapping in the wind. I had a dent/scrape on the side rear door. Something was warped on the driver door that when you close it part of it would rub against the inside and make a horrible sound when it closes, the driver seat was broken in an area and held on by zip ties. The 3.5mm jack no longer worked for the stereo. Oh also for the last year or so occasionally the car would seem like its stuck in first gear (despite being a CVT) and would need to be shut off and sit for a bit then it would be ok. Also it burned quite a bit of oil and would occasionally give me the oil too hot red light. So yeah, it was time. I traded it in they gave me $800 which I think is a pretty good deal lol

Welcome back! Sorry you had to part with your Patriot, but fortunately you were able to find another. :) Nice seeing you around again.

Suprised about your cat. I'm still on my original and wondering how much longer that will last.
