It is in the owners manual.
Pages 28 & 29 of '08 owner's manual (should be the same for '07 and maybe '09)

Auto Unlock
The doors will unlock automatically on vehicles with
power door locks if:
1. The Auto Unlock feature is enabled.
2. The transmission was in gear and the vehicle speed
returned to 0 mph (0 km/h).
3. The transmission is in NEUTRAL or PARK.
4. The driver door is opened.
5. The doors were not previously unlocked.
6. The vehicle speed is 0 mph (0 km/h).

The Auto Unlock feature can be enabled or disabled.
Refer to “Personal Settings” (Customer Programmable
Features) in the Electronic Vehicle Information Center
(EVIC)
— if equipped section of this manual.

For vehicles not equipped with the EVIC the Auto
Unlock Feature can be enabled or disabled by performing
the following procedure:
1. Close all doors and place the key in the ignition.
2. Cycle the ignition switch between LOCK and ON and
back to LOCK 4 times ending up in the LOCK position.
3. Depress the power door unlock switch to unlock the
doors.
4. A single chime will indicate the completion of the
programming.

Mine already came that way. Whenever I get above a certain speed (5 mph I think?) the doors automatically lock. When I put it in Park, the doors unlock. I'm not sure how I feel about the doors unlocking when I put it in park, but it doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it.

The only programming change I made was to turn off the horn chirp when I lock it. Whenever I arrived at work and locked it, it chirped and everyone in the store looked at me! :)

I like it that way. When getting the kids out of the Jeep I am happy.

The wife's 300M doesn't have that feature and I can't remember to hit the unlock button as I get out. It drives me nuts to be standing there pulling on the handle, then fumbling for the keys, and then pushing the unlock button until all the doors unlock.

What you are describing above.....can't remember to hit the unlock button...is what is happening on my 09 pat. The doors will not auto unlock unless you open the drivers door. Just stopping and putting it in park does not unlock the doors. You have to either hit the unlock or open the drivers door. Any fix to get it to auto unlock when put in park....I have kids and they're ready to yang off the door handles.

I read the manual and what it fails to say is that all items listed need to happen including opening the drivers door. I want it to unlock as soon as you stop and put in park...no need to open drivers door.

Unfortunately, you're just going to have to use the button for that situation. Still better than trying to reach all of the locks manually, right?

But, from a safety/security standpoint--having all the doors unlock when you PARK gives a criminal easy opportunity to enter your vehicle. Also, set your remote to only unlock the driver door on the first click.

But for myself and the rural area I live in, my doors do not auto lock so no need to auto unlock!

Since I am the primary driver of the vehicle I choose convenience over fear of safety.

It is good that it Chrysler has given us the option. :smiley_thumbs_up:

I stand corrected. My wife informed me that my Patriot does not unlock when I put it in park but does when I open the driver's door. I argued. One would think that after 21 years of wonderful marriage, I would learn.

My doors automatically unlock when I open my drivers door and not when I put it in park. There are you happy now dear.....

Better not let Mrs. Okie meet Mrs. Kah... lest we allow Mrs. Okie to learn the fine art of whirlwind frying pan yielding.

And no... I have been married 25 years and I still haven't learned my lesson. I still argue with the woman.
