So I purchased some LED lights for the Map Lights, because the stock were too dim for me. Problem is they both work and don't work.

If the vehicle is running, everything works fine. It's when the vehicle is off, that it gets weird.

If both driver and passenger are LED, there's no light
If passenger is OEM bulb and driver is LED, the LED will come on, but only if the OEM is on. Essentially, the OEM bulb becomes a switch for the LED. If I leave the LED on and turn the OEM off both lights will turn off, and if I turn the OEM back on both lights will come back on. When the OEM is on the LED can be turned on and off, but with it off the LED will not turn on.

Above is the product I bought from Amazon. Does anyone know how I can fix this or what I need to look for in the future so this doesn't happen again?

Hmmm, a real dilemma! LED bulbs, as they are "diodes" and thereby only passing current in one direction possibly could be installed backwards? Not seeing the actual bulb, I can't say for sure.

Why not peruse the ads on this site by Diode Dynamics--they make nearly all LED aftermarkets for Patriots--there are a couple of exceptions, headlights being one. They seem to be knowledgeable on this topic.

Good luck with this, and when--not if--you reach a solution, please post your findings here.

I went to their website to see what they had and they didn't have any when I quick searched by make model and year.

I don't think they are backwards because they will turn on under certain conditions and if they were backwards they would never turn on at all.

Attached is the video. I also bought different LEDs and those did the same thing.

What brand are those new lights, they look like they the cheaper brand. I only use Sylvania it's a bit more but it's as close to OEM as you can get it's a bit more expensive than the other brands out there, but it's worth it.

It was something off Amazon. They were a bit more expensive than the old ones I had, but both worked the same. I may try Sylvania. I'm just curious what the difference is. I'm sure there's a resistor or something that's needed, but I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for.

2 different LED brands do the same thing...? If so, I doubt buying Sylvania will solve anything. I lean towards saying this is a wiring issue.

Are you the original owner?
Have you had any wiring changes or any work done like headliner swap where someone may have fiddled with it?

To test the backwards theory listed, swap the bulb around and try the same tests as you did in the video.

You should take a pic of the back so someone can compare wiring.
