My 2016 has the ability to either leave the lights on auto (with DRL's), or turn them off entirely. Possibly a change from last year's model year?

I have a 2015 Jeep Patriot Sport and I cannot figure out how to turn the headlights off, even in the brightest of daytime. I'm pretty sure it's on auto but is there really no way to take it off auto?
Were you able to check your owner's manual for further direction? I'm assuming you're referring to your daytime lights? - Kevin T, Social Connect Team

This something i've wondered about with mine, i have a 2016 Sport SE, autos come on when it gets dark but i don't have DRL's i was thinking i should. Most of what i hear everyone has DRL's.

Yes, it's just annoying, it looks like the headlights are on as if it were nighttime in the middle of a bright summer day. The owner's manual didn't really help at all, hence why I came to this website. I really wish there was a way to have the option of DRL's but it doesn't seem like that's the case

Thanks for the follow-up. Please visit page 29 of your user guide which you can locate via Jeep Owners | Download an Owners Manual 2004 - 2011 | Jeep. Thanks! - Kevin T, Social Connect Team

Thanks, Jeep Cares--you've answered my non-EVIC questions. Thanks for being here for us!

We have a 2015 Jeep Patriot with this same issue, and it just started to happen in the last two weeks. When we drive the car during the daylight hours, the head lights and tail lights now both are on, as if we have turned the lights on with the lever control.

According to the owner's manual, there is no auto-on sort of selection, so I have no idea why recently this has started to happen.

I've searched and searched on the web, but with no luck. I'm thinking my next stop is the dealership. If I find a solution I will be sure to post.

I don't think pre-2014 had DRL option, though I've seen some pre-2011 that looked like they had it...possibly a marker light malfunction, happens to me sometimes lately. With mine, if I want the lights on, I turn the switch on. If I want 'em off, the switch gets turned off. Quite simple, really.

My '08 Limited edition had DRL--car was ordered for CA where I believe it to be law...

Now, my '16, I do not believe it has DRLs--no EVIC to check out--but I do have auto headlamps which seem to work just fine in that respect.

Yeah, another thing I've considered is the possibility that the US-registered gen-1 MK's with DRL's could be originally Canadian rigs made legal here. Looks alright on some vehicles, but DRL's and auto-lights don't make alot of sense to me. Just another thing to make drivers dumber.

......Drivers are going to get dumber no matter what(unless somebody takes it upon themselves to teach new drivers how to actually drive instead of throwing them a handbook, a few simple rules, a driver's license, and mom/dad's "how to not get caught for illegal stuff by the cops").
Look at how turn signaling is a lost art now...
Fixed that for ya. ;)

I have a '16 Latitude and have the same issue. Feels ridiculous riding around on a bright Summer day with those on.
Just look at how well always on headlamps work for motorcycles visibility--so you know some "do-gooder" in gov't wanted to help out the car drivers...

However, CA's "headlamps on with windshield wipers" is a good thing with their winter's poor visibility.
