So, how have these cars been doing lately?

Our reliability stats for the Patriot now include owner experiences through March 31, 2015. (Others are nearly a year behind.)

In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year ("low" is best):

2014 Patriot: 8, low, small sample size
2011 Patriot: 26, low, small sample size
2010 Patriot: 76, high, small sample size
2009 Patriot: 87, high, small sample size
2008 Patriot: 85, moderate
2007 Patriot: 83, moderate, small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2008 Patriot: 51, 4

No stat for a model year? Then we very much need more participants for it. Same for those with small sample size notes. Next updates in August and November.

Our reliability stats for the Patriot now cover the year ending June 30, 2015. (Others are over a year behind, and so report how these cars were doing when a year younger.)

Repair trips per 100 cars:

2014 Patriot: 23, low, small sample size
2011 Patriot: 33, low, small sample size
2010 Patriot: 64, moderate, small sample size
2009 Patriot: 89, high, small sample size
2008 Patriot: 79, moderate
2007 Patriot: 83, moderate, small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2008 Patriot: 48, 4

If a model year isn't listed, or its sample size is small, then we especially need more owners involved.

Thanks for keeping this thread going. My '08 finally had a real repair (engine wiring harness), but its the first significant money I've spent on it (190,000 miles). I consider it money well spent as I expect quite a few more miles out of it. Our 2014 hasn't had any repairs yet . . .

If you don't mind me being nosey, how much did the wiring harness set you back?

Yeah one major problem in nearly 200k miles is really good. Beats having a $350/month car payment. Best way to buy vehicles is to buy them brand new and maintain the hell out of them and keep them at least 10 years.

A little under $1200. Roughly 50:50 parts & labor.

Buying new and keeping them has worked well for me. When I was traveling more I'd trade at 100,000 or so. I had a dealer that worked well with me on those trades.

So far on my Patriot the single biggest expense has been tires. Really, my Patriot's been pretty easy on tires. Between snow tires and road tires I think I've had 5 sets, but my snows (new last year) are good for another winter and the road tires for at least another year (new this year). One set of Wild Country were a disaster (3 of 4 failed under warranty) and I unloaded them with still some tread left -- I just wanted them gone.

We've updated our reliability stats for the Patriot to include owner experiences through the end of 2015, about eight months ahead of other sources.

In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year--lower is better:

2014 Patriot: 41, moderate, small sample size
2011 Patriot: 27, low, small sample size
2010 Patriot: 52, moderate, very small sample size
2009 Patriot: 73, moderate, small sample size
2008 Patriot: 50, low
2007 Patriot: 72, moderate, small sample size

No stat, or a small sample size? Then we especially need more owners involved for that model year.

We've updated our reliability stats for the Patriot to include owner experiences through June 30, 2016. Reliability information elsewhere is based on a survey conducted in April 2015--well over a year ago.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2014 Patriot: 21, low, very small sample size
2011 Patriot: 25, low, small sample size
2010 Patriot: 126, high, very small sample size
2009 Patriot: 54, moderate, small sample size
2008 Patriot: 42, low
2007 Patriot: 105, high, small sample size

With more participants, we could provide more precise stats and cover more model years.

Maybe, maybe not. We have quite a few high-mileage cars in the stats, and often they don't require more repairs than the others. It might depend on whether they're "highway miles."

We've updated our reliability stats for the Patriot to include owner experiences through September 30, 2016.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year (lower is better):

2014 Patriot: 11, low, very small sample size
2011 Patriot: 45, moderate, very small sample size
2010 Patriot: 117, high, very small sample size
2009 Patriot: 62, moderate, small sample size
2008 Patriot: 35, low
2007 Patriot: 109, high, small sample size

Additional participants always helpful, especially for years without stats or with small sample sizes.

How might I sign up? Do I have to post what repairs I've had? (Ya think I can remember? Heck, there really weren't that many). At 235,000 I suppose I'll start having some soon. Just had the PCV valve replaced.

Oh. and that wiring harness repair involved a domino effect of sorts. Because the battery was being run down I had to replace the battery. Because constantly recharging the battery burned out the alternator that had to be replaced. Then the replacement battery failed, again due to the constant rundowns (dealer covered the second battery n/c). The cruise control wouldn't work after the harness replacement and my dealer replaced the lever/switch only to find it was still not working -- seems the cruise hadn't been installed it correctly during the new wiring harness installation.

So really, if the harness hadn't gone, I might still be on my original battery, original alternator, and original cruise control. That could make it look like my Patriot was in the shop half a dozen times or that it was a recurring problem. Actually, like all wiring problems, it was tough to diagnose and for a month I was carrying a battery pack till they found the spot in the harness. With that behind me, there's been nothing in the last 40,000 miles except the PCV valve mentioned above.

I'm afraid I might throw off the average.
