That is where the middle seat belt can be housed when you aren't using it.
The clip that creates the lap portion of the belt in the upper slot and the latch in the lower.

No crap! WOW! I had no clue, seriously... I gotta start using this :)

Mine hasnt moved, it still sits there
...staring at you in the rear view mirror, longing for attention from its owner, dreaming of the day that it might actually be useful...

poor middle seat belt, KFC shows you no love :(

Hmm...didnt that seatbelt come all wrapped up and in those slots when you picked the vehicle up from the dealership?

Not mine. It was snapped in. As soon as I released it (why have it snapped in when not in use?) I realized that those holes had to be for that and played with it until it fell into place.

I guessed that was what that was for straight away but...... didn't have a bloody clue how to release the middle seatbelt once you'd locked it in to the black holder! I was out there on and off for ages trying to figure it ( I know shoud've read my manual) and to top it off my 10 year old son figured it!
and i'm normally one of those great and figuring things out and logical puzzels people but that threw me totally!

Thanks! I've never had the occasion to use the back seat and my fire gear is always in the cargo area so I really hadn't noticed those mystery holes.

Mine never wants to stay in those darn little holes. I'm constantly putting the belt back in its place. However, I do live on a fairly bumpy country road.
Ditto.

I'm sure my car will fall apart before I ever have need of that belt again. In 2026 I'll probably pull it apart to use the parts to rebuild the driver's seat belt when it wears out.

Dont feel so bad

I took this with my phone, what is supposed to be in the empty spaces? It's in the rear corner of the cargo area. Only took me a year to notice it.
had my pat 2 yrs
and didnt know
just went and adjusted it now,
Did bug me seatblet getting in the way when putting back seats up/down,
and did take me a few minutes of looking guessing at the clip,
there no orange push button?
yep, gotta insert other seatbelt tab into that black strip to release it

I always keep my middle belt up there, but then comes the time when someone sits in the back middle and you have to try and explain where the seatbelt is. If the person is not very comprehensive, it sometimes takes them a while to understand what "in the trunk, on the back passenger column, close to the roof". Anyone else know of a better way of explaining it?

Shoulder belt is hanging way in the farthest back corner of the car on the passenger's side.

I've never really tried to cram five people in before. It's more of a four person vehicle. It works great because I have three really close friends. However, it's usually just me and the dog (she doesn't wear a seatbelt, but she might chew on it if she had an opportunity).:)

Forget the seat belt, just hold on tight to the people next to you since you're crammed in like sardines anyway.
