Hi,

I've had my 2014 Jeep Patriot for about two years and I would like to upgrade my stereo system. I bought the antenna adapter and the wiring harness. Is there anything else I need? I've heard some say I need the steering wheel wiring also, is this true? My steering wheel only consist of the cruise control buttons and not there radio buttons. Please help a lady out! ?

Did you buy the aftermarket radio yet?
The antenae adapter and harness would be specific to the radio you purchased
If you didnt buy the radio yet find it odd that you have harness/adapter without knowing what radio its for
If you dont radio control on your steering wheel
Then dont need the wiring for it,

the antenna and harness are fine. since you dont have steering controls you wont need to worry about that. Also, what type of harness did you get? The more expensive PAC module or just a regular harness. I only ask because the OEM radio uses a computer signal to turn on, not a 12v signal like all aftermarket radios. If you have just a plain-jane harness, you will need to tap into your cig lighter positive wire for the 12v signal that tells your new stereo to turn on.
The expensive harnesses convert the oem signal into a 12v signal automatically for your new radio. All you need now is just an install kit. some double-din touchscreen radio's fit, some are too tall. all single-din will fit just fine with an install kit.

For an easier install I would spend the extra money and get the PAC module like he said.

What radio are you installing?

Aside from the Jensen VX7020 I ordered for $265.00 I also had to order the Universal backup camera with night vision for $8.99 shipped, the antenna adapter for $6.99, Metra wire harness and mounting kit.

What stereo are you upgrading to? I'm looking to upgrade as well. Just bought a 2015 but it only has basic radio and 4 speakers. I would like to have SiriusXM, (which I had in the last one and have an account), nice sound and bluetooth for the phone.

Hi new here. I have a 2016 Patriot Sport. Had it for about 2 weeks now. I love it but the radio has to go. I'll be moving the nice Alpine single DIN Bluetooth/HD Radio unit from my other car into the Patriot. So if I remember right there's a yellow wire on the harness that comes with the HU. I will need to route that to the positive on the cigarette lighter and the rest of the color coded wires will go to the harness per normal?

I presume it doesn't pull actual current from that, it's just a 12v detect? I ask because I also plan on hooking up an in-dash dual USB power box. Thanks!
