Anyone actually used the 110v outlet? If so, what for?

I was thinking of using it to power my buffer the next time I waxed the truck but am not sure if the buffer would need more than the 150 watts its capable of providing. Any input?

Well I guess since volts x amps = watts either of my buffers should be ok to use in the power outlet. Here's the big ones specs: 120v x .8 amps = 96 watts. I am sure that increases with resistance against the buffing wheel though.

Don't have mine yet (about five more months to go before I place my order), but I only see myself using it for my laptop. Possibly to charge a cell phone, if I happen to have another cell or my mp3 player plugged into the lighter. Oh...and my camera battery charger.

what is the peak wattage for the buffer? I would keep it below 75% of the maximum or 120W peak. Of course you may have to jump start the car after 30 minutes.

Great for my MP3 Player

Though, the designated MP3 holder doesn't get a lot of use... tough to use while driving

Jim, I'd be real careful. It takes two batteries to buff my old Ford on my cordless. That's a lot of juice.

Hey Mike,
I used the outlet the first weekend we had the Jeep, to blow up the air mattress (what can I say, I have a bad back). Unfortunately we forgot the 3-prong adapter we picked up prior to departing, so I had to break the 3rd prong off the pump. I tried to use it with my small craftsman shopvac; it didn't work. Blew the internal breaker, tried it again, blew it again... Guess that's one nice thing, the built in breaker. I look forward to getting a good GPS software package for my laptop and using the outlet for that, and movies on road-trips. Beats the old-school inverter!

Tried using mine to charge a cell phone, but when the jeep's turned off, there's no power to it.
Do you know why they did that? Because there will be folks calling DCX in a few months complaining that their vehicles won't start and their batteries are dead because they were using the aux AC outlet.

A smart move to do that IMHO.

Yup vacuums are very high power users. Notebook computers and dvd players are not at least with today's systems. Prior to rewiring and finishing my basement I would constantly kick off the 15 amp breaker if I was using the shop vac and another high demand item kicked in. Peak would exceed the breaker.

I guess I'll continue to do it by hand until I can find (on the net) the max current for the buffer... Hopefully when I move here in two weeks I'll have a garage to was my Jeep and wifes car in.

I use it all the time. I have my cell phone pluged in a lot of the time but I have used it for our laptop, air pump a few times. Its really nice on a roadtrip if you can have the pass seat free and fold it down. Plop the lap top on there and play a movie. The kids and my husband did this on the way home the screen is much bigger than the dvd' players you can put in the cars and the sound I put through our speakers. Worked out perfect.

I love the Outlet...My cell phone has been plugged in, Ipod, AA battery charger. It's so amazing. And many people dont believe you when you tell them. Oh its ok we can just plug it in. Their like no way...you cant do that. Then you show them and they always say...I want this car. How long before I can order one. Smart move by jeep adding the outlet. With us all being so mobil now a days...its comes in so handy.

imagine a female driving while drying her hair with the blow dryer... yikes!

My laptop runs on its own batteries, so I plug my small printer in there and REALLY make the most of the desk-like work surface the passenger seat folds down into. When business takes me out of town, I no longer have to save everything and print it later - my whole air-conditioned office travels with me!
