I installed my opt7 hid foglights and headlights 5 days ago. They worked great for 3 days. Days 4, and 5 the headlights turned off headlights 1 or 2 seconds then came back on. This happened only once on both days.
I leave for work at 530 am when its still dark out. Im afraid they may turn off and not go back on.
Anyone have any idea what may be wrong, and what i should do?
I emailed opt7, and im awaiting there response.

Thank you.

You may need a $5 relay in place.

That right, yes grounding with a relay is very important.

Well, the positive, negative, and ground are secure. I found one very slightly loose connection between two wires that was still held in by the clip. I further secured it with electrical tape.
I also noticed that the headlights when mounted in the housing, and turned into the lock position are not tight. They are somewhat loose, and the passenger side fell right out when I touched it.

OPT7 emailed me back, and said that if they turn off, then right back on, that the bulbs, and ballasts are good, and also think it's a loose connection.
Hopefully it's fixed now. I really don't like the thought of them possibly going out, and not coming back on while I'm driving in the dark.

ok. what could be happening is the TIPM is looking for a certain amount of power draw. since you are running a harness, there is very little draw. it will cycle the lights to see change. It varies between Patriots. For instance, mine just blinked once in a while, whereas other would fully shut-off for a second or two. You can attempt to combat this by installing resistors that consume close to the amount of power a Halogen would (55/65 watts low/high is normal for most halogens). Grab some 50 watt 6 ohm resistors (dirt cheap, most ebay sellers include them with led bulbs) and wire them into your lights. you will need 4 (high and low beam wires for both sides) and mount them on a metal surface. they use heat to create power draw.

I have four resistors one set up for each of my turn signals right now since I converted all those two LEDs on the same day last weekend. So i know where ill get em and how to install em.
This morning they did it three times in a time frame of 15 min.

Well i hoped to find em at an auto parts or electronic store today, and no one has them. Looks like ill put my oem bulbs back in and order resistors from online.
I have read a few more threads. Someone meantioned for the same problem that you should use at least 55w and 200 ohms. Can you verrify this? Also, they said ou only need the resistor on the ground, and low beam wires. Is this correct?

I personally never tried it. My issue was so minimal, I never felt the need to diagnose it. I think your relays would provide enough resistance that a 55w 6 ohm would work. seems to be what every retailer is selling with their hid's. take one off your led's and throw it on the headlight wire see if it fixes the blinking on that light. Then test your brights to see if it would be necessary to add another

Im running some things through my mind about this. Im told my patriot requires canbus hids, but havent found proof of that. How do i determine if it does? Because if thats the issue, then i need to return these and buy different ones.

If you don't have resistors on then the headlights the computer thinks they are not working properly so it cuts the voltage off.

The HID ballast pull their power from the relay connected to your battery. You need the resistors to create a small constant load to fool the computer and to keep power going.

Easy $5-10 fix.

The more manufacturers and retailers that I speak to say that the 2014 Jeep Patriot does need a canbus system in it so I'm wondering now if the resistors are even going to fix the problem if I don't have a can bus headlight kit?

Man, my $28 Xentec's were installed in like 10 minutes, true plug and play, and have never flickered on my 2014 Patriot .... get a new brand?

From eBay, search Xentec they are sold by thousands of people right now .... find the cheapest auction.

Im seriously considering it. Im told i need canbus but dont wanna put resistor on a non canbus and not be able to return it if it doesnt work.
Fog lights are not being returned they were a pain to install and to get at where i had to mount the ballasts. No way.
