Misrepresentation of lifetime warranty

I filed a Ripoff Report on the web: I am the original owner and purchased a new vehicle lifetime warranty for my 2008 Jeep Patriot which also has lifetime drive train warranty from Chrysler. Unfortunately lifetime does not mean lifetime to MOPAR/Chrysler/Jeep in spite of the FAQ indication that it does. Warranty is LIFETIME NEW VEHICLE MAXIMUM CARE UPGRADE PLAN

From FAQ on the site: A: Mopar® Vehicle Protection is offered with a wide variety of time and mileage terms, typically up to 7 years and 100,000 miles.
Lifetime plans have no time limit on mechanical coverage, but only for the original owner; they are not transferable unless required by state law.

From my listing on the warranty site: Expires on: 2015/12/18 or 80,000 miles
Genuine RIPOFF!

to maintain lifetime warranty you have to do 2 things, first get 5 yr inspection at the right time frame, something like 2 months before/after purchase date
also you have to make sure that inspection gets uploaded into Chryslers system from the dealer
I had a problem where my inspection wasn't in the system couple years ago,
I had the inspecting dealer send me printout of inspection and I faxed it to Chrysler corporate to update the system,
after that haven't had a problem with lifetime warranty,
last year at 7 yrs 155k miles I had transmission replaced no problems whatsoever, $0 charge,
last month at 8 yrs 170k miles had waterpump and belt tensioner replaced under warranty with no problems $0 charge
----------
I don't think that Chrysler site is accurate for lifetime warranty
as it has no record of my warranty but dealer has record in their system
I would call and double check,
lifetime might be under different system than whats on the website

We did not get any additional warranty for the Jeep, and I had no idea until this past weekend that my father had purchased a 5-year warranty plan (expired last year) for the Tiburon that could have been transferred to my name.

Now, for our Versa we were roped into buying an extra warranty, and it was +2 years and 40,000km. I believe it was just shy of $2k, and we have heavily used that warranty. To the point that I am feeling our dealership is pushing back on issues in the front end so that it does not have to fall under warranty. At last back of my hand tally we are probably about $4-5000 in total repairs covered by the warranty. What that means is we will never buy a Nissan again, now that I have more experience with new cars.

I just reached the 100k mark, did you have your timing belt replaced or did they do it with the water pump? I have been contemplating changing the timing belt myself. I did do my 5 year and I had to have the intake manifold replaced, I had to shop for the dealer to replace under warranty, 3 wanted charge me something or say it wasnt covered

When i took it in it was for a rattle i thought was coming from timing chain
Dealer double checked warranty he stated timing chain would be covered under warranty, they inspected it and it was fine, no charge for inspecting it, rattle ended up being from alternator which they did charge me for, but while there they decided to replace water pump and belt tensioner under warranty, they said it had slight wear, instead of coming back in a few months they replaced it early under warranty
Been to many bad dealers this dealer i now go to is 100 miles from home
Gladly travel 100 miles and make a day out of it for a good dealer

This the lifetime enhanced warranty that supplements the lifetime drivetrain warranty. The drivetrain warranty is fine as I had the inspection done, however the lifetime warranty for the rest shows an expiration date of 12/2015 so much for lifetime.

Did a quick search
All i see is jeep lifetime power train warranty
I cant find lifetime enhanced warranty offered by jeep
Are you sure this is a chrysler warranty and not a third party warranty sold by the dealer?

The dealer told me about the expiration date. Appears they look at the same site. This suggests that MOPAR may be indulging in some interesting tactics when they call a warranty lifetime. Maybe I will pass this on to our state Attorney General's office and ask for a fraud investigation.

They mailed me my service contract for my lifetime max care warranty. Paperwork shows a expiration date of 2098. Definitely keeping that paperwork with me in case they ever try to say that my warranty is expired.

What does it say on the paperwork that you have? This really shouldn't be a difficult problem to resolve... Warranties come with a ton of paperwork and fine print. Pull it all out and look and see what it says, but I'd be surprised if you had a "lifetime" warranty and it expired after 7 years. Either what you got isn't lifetime, or the warranty checker is incorrect. Either way, the original paperwork is what you need.

just checked mopar lifetime warranty
certain things are for 7/100k miles, after that lifetime warranty kicks in
maybe that's what your seeing,

A: Lifetime plans provide mechanical repairs for the covered components listed in your personalized plan provisions, but they do not include wear items like brakes or tires. Non-mechanical benefits like first day rental, rental allowance, roadside assistance, towing allowance and trip interruption benefits expire at 7 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Lifetime plans cover only for the original owner; they are not transferable unless required by state law.

Here is info from the mopar site

Description LIFETIME NEW VEHICLE MAXIMUM CARE UPGRADE PLNS (W/PWRTN WTY)

Seems that lifetime does not mean lifetime if you buy extended from MOPAR/JEEP!

Expires on 2015-12-18 or 85000 miles

I have the lifetime warranty on my 2008 Patriot. At 110,000 miles the tranny went south and they replaced it no problem. Even gave me a Chrysler 200 to use for the week it was in. That's the only warranty service I've needed.

When I bring mine in for service my sales rep usually offers me a car to use if its in for any length of time. I think a large part of the quality of a warranty is the quality of the dealer. If the dealers pulling for you, the manufacturer will go along. If you give the dealer headaches, they'll let you quarrel with the manufacturer on your own.
