On Friday I drive an hour south to catch a ferry that takes 2 hours to get me to just north of the CAN/US border at Peace Arch.

Then its I5 all the way to Eugene OR and pick up my tear Saturday morning.

Then repeat the trip in reverse, hoping I can get the last ferry back onto the Island. Its at 9 but you have to be there at least an hour prior to ensure you get on.

This is it:

My wife and I are so looking forward to this.
No more setting up and taking down a tent, no more sleeping on the ground...well that isn't hard but the getting up off the ground is getting old.
Still able to get into the little hidey holes we like to camp in...

All you WA members...I'll wave as I blow past you.

I'm thinking real hard on wrapping that back hatch...give the poor saps behind me something to look at.

Stella Lake is a little lake we spend a fair bit of time on...what does the Patriot Pack think, would this loook good on that back hatch?

Very nice I keep looking at the Tear Drops since the wife isn't a very big fan of tent camping I don't know if this would be a good option for her. These trailers are so amazing and the customizing that can be done makes them fun as well.

And here I thought you were building it yourself...still looks great--and YES!! a wrap is indicated. Years ago I had a small motorhome with a blank rear panel that was just crying for decoration, so I chose this: The first line said: "I'd rather be:"
2nd line: "Driving the Mercedes" (with logo), 3rd line: "Flying the Stearman" (with sketch of flying machine) and the 4th: "But--this unit has a" (show toilet)

Metaxa, it looks amazing and screams for an adventure. Maybe you should just keep driving I-5 South once you pick it up and I'll meet you in NorCal.
That is going to happen once we both retire for real.

Couple of years...Plan is to get to North or South Carolina for pulled pork sandwiches via coastal Washington, Oregon, Norcal, then to Colorado (4 corners area) and on to the Carolinas.

That is the warm up road trip.

Then there is the Alaska Highway up, the Dempster down.
then there is...you get it, eh?

Bingo. Me and the wife are going to drive to Alaska when we retire as well.

That's really sharp. I'm seeing more and more of those on the road lately.

OK, its 2 in the morning and I just walked in the door...Left yesterday at 4AM, home today at 2AM and have done just shy of 2,000 km. (1,200 miles).
(don't forget I have hours of ferries as well as hours of waiting at the border...)

I am beyond tired, this type of road trip needs being done by younger folks but a few quick thoughts:

The trailer weighs 900 lbs and the Patriot pulled it really well: up grades, up hills, through stop and go traffic (hello Portland and Seattle...how folks live with that gridlock is beyond me!) I caught a bit of catalytic odour a couple of times but the temp gauge never went above half way and cruising along on the flat and narrow was effortless.

Getting up to speed and stopping from speed required some thought and input but nothing unexpected.

Last thought before I drop (pictures coming tomorrow, honest):

WA drivers need to learn some lane discipline. Unbelievable how they can clog up a five freeking lane freeway.

Beautiful teardrop! May I ask how much after all said and done?
http://www.dnmteardroptrailers.com/

That is the web site of the guy who built mine.
The 5x8 starts at $7,200 but I optioned a few things...I hit $8,000 on the button.

You can find less expensive builders and you can find more expensive builders but factoring in the cost of delivery, features we wanted, ability to work with the guy via email and phone calls, I'm very pleased with my choice.

Duane is a class act, one of the good guys.
