What is up with...Front Sun Visors

Ok, is it just me or were the engineers who designed the front sun visors living in a cave? There is a lot to be desired when it comes to using the visors, there is an inch gap on the left side of the driver's visor and don't even think about moving it over to block the sun through the door side! I feel like something is reaching out to slap me!

i have noticed that the dont block the sun at all. when i would drive to and from work the sun was right in my face, and the visor didnt help at all. I just invested in a good pair of sunglasses.

THe onyl problem I have with them is the fact that they are almost white... they get fingerprints on them so easily!

My driver's one is filthy on the left corner. I'm going to try spacing it down an inch so it will clear the headliner and lie more flat against the side window. If you notice, the pivot end is up in a dent about an inch deep. If it were not it would be able to block the side window better. I have also considered a telescoping rod so it can block the sun farther back on the side window.

It does telescope, just not very far.

Why is there no tinted section at the top of the window anymore?

It needs to be able to move at least 16". Now it only moves about 8. A double telescope like an old TV antenna would be the style. If it were made of metal rather than plastic it would work much better.

I just try to drive when the sun is high in the sky. That seems to solve the problem.

I haven't noticed anything particularly bad about the sun visors. Granted, they don't actually work very well, but then neither do any sun visors in any other vehicle I've driven, either. These ones seem about as good or bad as the rest of them.

Move the seat up?
BTW, how tall are you?

I agree with Tony. And anyway, what do you want or expect from a car in this price category? Go buy something for 100.000+ USD and maybe you`ll even get power sun visors automaticaly adjusting to the sun, ventilated seats with massage and so on

I agree Zsmom. That 1" by the left front column drives me crazy. I've been thinking of putting a small triangle of very dark window tint right at the top-left corner of the windshield to help out.

And Jepstr, not just CJ's - any Wrangler. My 04 TJ had visors the size of postage stamps. Absolutely worthless.

I dont even bother using them. I have a city commute to work so I have a lot of redlights. The patriots roof sticks so far forward that I can barely see the red lights when I am right underneither them as it is. With the visors down I would have no chance of seeing them.

Remember......On the CJ visors were one of the first "concessions" Jeep made to the user friendly crowd. When you flip down the windshield you don't really want a rear view mirror and sun visors on it.

If you think the Patriot's visors are limited function--try those provided in small airplanes.

I ended up just taking them off and using the colored vinyl 6x8" rectangles that would stick on the glass (OK! plexi-glas) where you needed them. Then move them as you or the sun traveled! I have a 1/2 size that I keep in my car just for this purpose! They are definitely small and even though they telescope they are still inadequate if the sun is coming from the side, as they don't extend far enough. Especially bad out in the southwest where the sun shines very brightly and most every day.

Workaround is if the sun is coming from the side to use a large magazine on the visor to extend out beyond the edge. And YES they get dirty fast. Looks bad.

my passengers side one has my girls makeup prints all over it from using the mirror. they should have made them darker

That's true. Next what will they do? Power windows in the doors? Cruise control?? Air conditioning!??
