OK, when I first saw this thread I was concerned that it would bring out the whiners and give visitors a bad impression. But, I realize that there is a therapeutic benefit to getting things (even small things) off one's chest. So here goes:
- Visibility not so great when backing up (but proper positioning of mirrors eliminates blind spots for lane changing).
- Sometimes hard to see traffic lights if I'm close to it (better than wrangler though)
- Visors show dirt too easily

I thought about mentioning that the headrests are tilted a little too far forward, but after the first day with the Jeep I had no problem at all with them. Maybe just needed to get used to it.

There. Done. Thats all the complaining I plan to do. If there was a thread titled "what I like about the Patriot" it would be a very long list!

I don't like the 2 different control knobs to adjust the A/C vent position. I keep trying to move the register left-to-right by grabbing the thing sticking out of the vent's center.

Short drivers aren't going to like the fact that the rear seat headrests aren't removable. I've noticed that many people who drive the Scion Xa I traded in (and which has the same rear visibility problem) remove the rear headrests...

The rear hatch needs an exterior handle to help close the hatch. It needs a health shove to close and there's nothing to push on. Also, after the shove, I need the handle to stop the slam.

There needs to be a button on the tailgate just like on the passenger doors, so people without power locks can tell that the hatch is locked (both from inside and outside)

When I adjust the center dash vents, I bump the radio controls.

Small things, I know, but it's details like these that make Toyota and Honda the darlings of the market....

How did you alignment go, I have the same small problem, just a little bit pull to the right. I am on the road all week, so had someone take it in for me, and they said that according to the toe-in machine it was alright and didn't do anything, guess I will go to another jeep place.

Interesting. I have the same issue, a slight pull to the right. Complained about it at 1000 miles and was told to wait a few thousand to "let the suspension settle in."

Brought it in with 6000 miles and the dealer reset the toe-in. Drove it away and still pulled to the right.

It really started to annoy me, so I asked them to look at it again. The service advisor always seems to argue with me, that my complaints aren't valid, but in the end they find a problem. She argued that it was the crown in the roads I drive on. "All of them have a crown that pulls to the right?" I answered. She agreed to look at it again and the tech rechecked the alignment. It was spot on. He cross-rotated the tires and announced that the problem was gone.

It is now much better, although it does seem to drift to the left now. ;)

It's the front camber. Don't let them tell you otherwise.

Well, let's see... I wish I'd had a little more $$ so I could enjoy a fully loaded limited, but, the sport will do.
First issue, trailer prep group. Didn't realize mine didn't have it until after I signed. Then they wanted to charge over $600 to install it?!?!?! I can fly my Jeep shop foreman buddy down with the parts at his cost from Detroit to Denver, have an install PARTY for less! Going to get the Reese bolt-on. MUCH cheaper and hauls 1500# more.
Only other thing that annoys me is the sun visor. It is way too short! It could really use an extension, only covers about a third of the door window width where I sit.

Can slide the sun visor but that isn't the same. Would love to know how the Reese hitch works out. Saw that they just added that to the Patriot hitch offerings. We have a few Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite installs.

I saw the printout. The caster and camber were fine. Toe was just a nudge off.

It sounds like the pull is caused by the tires. Find a tire shop with a "road force" balancer that can detect tire pull. The balancer tells where to put each tire on the vehicle to minimize tire pull. But once you rotate your tires you might end up with the same problem again.

Hope this helps a little

I just thought of this one today...I'll be annoyed that the Pat doesn't have "driver memory" to remember me vs. Hubby behind the wheel. It can be a big deal when you're as short as I am, and are married to a guy as tall as my Hubby. And when we go anywhere together, we tend to take my ride.

Annoyed that the Jeep logos on the factory mats are peeling off.
They are only ironed on instead of stitched on or cross-stitched.

On the other hand if you only complain about Logos on the floor mats the Patriot must be a very good vehicle :)

Dealer did an alignment and although it's slightly better, it still pulls slightly.

For what it's worth, this reviewer (see attached at bottom) commented that his test Patriot was out of alignment. This might be a more common issue than I thought.

The other day, while driving, I rolled down the back windows (kept the front windows rolled up). Then, this weird wind noise developed. Almost as if air entered in the rear windows in an alternating pattern. It seemed like it also changed the pressure in the cabin, also alternating from right to left at a high frequency. It was very annoying. I rolled up one window, and it decrease the effect. I rolled up both windows, and it completely disappeared.

I never experience this effect in any vehicle I drove. Does any have a similar experience? Is it coming from the tires? Otherwise, the Jeep drives fine.

Don't know if this has already been said didn't read all the posts..
1) I hate where they put the Cruise control....it was sooo much better on the steering wheel.
2)Hestitation from a stop....real noticbale with the AC on....
3)Sirius Radio reception is not nearly as good as the XM radio in my truck ( my guess is the factory radio doesn't buffer like the XM Skifi does...
Overall I am happy....

Thats called wind buffeting....its common on just about any vehicle when the windows are open in the right combination...its actualy addressed in your owners manual.

I tend to drive with both rear windows open for the fresh air but not the wind howling in my left ear, and I always get the buffeting. Just crack the passenger side (or driver's side) front window an inch and it will go away.

Open windows at high speed bad for fuel economy

I remember reading somewhere that driving above 50 mph with the windows
open causes more drag than running the AC. On the Patriot, I have found that if all 4 windows are completely down, the wind buffeting is minimal, even at highway speed. All other combinations of some windows down and some up are a matter of experiment at different vehicle speeds.

All cars will buffet at some speeds and with certain window positions. The Patriot is no better or worse than any other car I have driven.

For no wind buffeting [on most cars] this is works:

Sunroof fully open (retracted) & two rear windows slightly cracked open 0.5"

Ok, I picked up my Patriot yesterday and the first thing that I found that annoys me is the rubber shift boot on my 5 Speed makes a loud popping noise during shifting from 2nd to 3rd, and from 4th to 5th. The 2wd Limited model I test drove didn't have this issue, but to be safe does anyone else have this same Popping noise?

To fix it I'll probably be looking for some leather boot to replace the rubber one that came on the truck.
