Well thank goodness I haven't installed my receiver yet. I went to pull the decals off and the paint chipped right off... Meaning this thing would be a rust bucket in less then a year!

Prepping it up for truck bed coating and will start that today since it supposed to be 70 here

Wow that's probably one of the worst paint jobs I've seen. I'm ordering the same receiver in a few weeks and will probably do truck bed liner too after seeing that.

My hitch is installed but it will be coming off in a couple months. The plan is to spray my bumpers with box liner and I will likely do the same with the hitch. The picture you posted looks like a really bad paint job. Mine was fine but it's still powdercoat and I don't trust it. I've seen railings rusted to the point of almost falling off buildings just weeks after being coated. My skid plates looked fine until I sanded them to box line them. Found rust spots under the coating that you couldn't see before I started.

I haven't noticed anything wrong with the paint on my hitch receiver, maybe you just got a bad example or something. Guess I'll need to check it come spring and maybe plastidip it.

That was just from peeling off a UPC code...

Onto the coating!
Looks good! What brand did you use there? Is that the smooth stuff or the textured stuff?

Rosso I'd suggest something like MoJeepin used for doing a hitch. Plasti-dip works wonders but I don't think I'd trust it as an undercoating. For something like a hitch you want it to be permanent.

Anyone looking to do larger areas or multiple parts, you can get sprayable 2 component boxliner. It's supposed to be a little tougher but it's a bit more of a procedure. Here's a link to the thread about my skids, going to do my hitch along with round 2 of parts.

Hrm, yeah, maybe I should look more into Rhinoliner if I'm gonna put protectant on the hitch, but I already have the plastidip. Will know better what I need sometime later though.
