Why did you choose the Patriot?

I needed a new car, but needed the versitility of a truck/van.
I was also not looking to spend much.
It was one of the cheapest I could find as far as a car/truck/van kinda SUV.

After looking at all the reviews of others in that range, it was the only one that stood out as useful and large enough. And good enough.

I went for the sport, 2wd.

So, for utility and cheapness. Plus my old car broke down. That was my reason.
Worked out pretty good for me so far.

You? Was it the 'Patriot' word? Was it the cost? Was it the Jeep name?

I needed a replacement for my Chevrolet HHR and I needed either AWD or 4wd. I paid around $18,700 USD as a rough estimate. Plus I always wanted a Jeep but wanted more than 19 MPGs.

I'm not made of money and it doesn't grow on trees. Money contains quite a bit of linen.

I was looking for an inexpensive 4x4 SUV that still got good gas mileage and was reliable. My dad had a Cherokee for almost 20 years and 200,000 miles, so if I can get the same reliability out of my 'riot, I'll be happy. Also, the fact the Patriot is similar to the old Cherokee helped :smiley_thumbs_up:

Hard to beat the utility of a 4x4 four door SUV type vehicle. What always kept me from buying one, was the prices, and the gas they sucked up. Patriot met all my requirements and needs. 4x4 SUV that is very good on gas for well under $20k.
More manufacturers should follow this model, as there really isn't anything in the ball park of the Sport 4x4 Riot.

There are so many reasons, in a nutshell always wanted a capable 4x4 but could never justify a wrangler and I have a family of 5, along came the patriot. I am eligible through family for the employee purchase and the more I looked the more it became a no brainer.

cost of vehicle
cost of ownership (insurance costs - safety rating, etc)
fuel economy (better than 15 mpg my old dakota got)
features (4x4, remote start, auto dimming rear view mirrors, fog lights, etc)
size (passenger and cargo capacity)
looks (like boxy look over rounded look of compass)
want vs need comparison and practicality (wanted/need 4x4, didn't need a truck)
warranty
off-road capability (4x4, ground clearance)

it helps when your wife likes the vehicle too :)

1. Best price among other diesel SUVs (except corean brands which I don't really like)
2. The financial programm (30% in advance + 50 months with interest rate 0%)
3. Performance and consumption.
4. It's a jeep thing.

Q.Why?
A. The combination of: it's a Jeep, pricing, value, styling, performance, ride, and fuel economy.

At the time (Jan 07) I had an '05 Scion xB that I bought new 2 years earlier and wanted a vehicle that felt a bit more substantial. The xB was great for the price (fully equipped for $14K) and fuel economy was stellar (34-37MPG), but although the fit and finish was tight, it just felt tinny. And the engine screaming at Arizona highway speeds was not very comforting.

In Dec 06 I saw a picture of a Patriot and immediately thought, "I gotta have it!". More research and a brief test drive confirmed it. It is the best vehicle that I've purchased for myself (I've bought many new vehicles over a 27 year span), and an ownership experience equal to that of my wife's Mini Cooper.

A number of factors. I was considering a couple other SUVs that had similar or better cargo capabilities and similar AWD capabilities, but the Patriot had a lower price and far better mileage. The looks helped, but the other two finalists (Saturn VUE, Ford Edge) are also decent looking (but go more for classy looks than rugged looks).

While the extra power of the V6 engine either of the alternatives had would have been nice, I have not yet had real cause to regret my purchase decision. The Patriot wasn't superior in all areas, but had benefits in the areas that mattered most to me.

I wanted something that was easy on gas and had some cargo room. Also wanted something that was 4x4 for snow and slick roads. It was affordable all they way around, insurance, gas etc...

My wife has a Liberty that is great and I'm a Mopar guy from the beginning...

Just had a daughter and my VW Diesel Jetta was too small for the car seat and stroller. My family needed a larger vehicle that had good gas mileage. After looking at several models (Ford, Subaru and Jeep) I decided that the Patriot fit the bill. The Patriot was just the right size and the cost was perfect. I didn’t need a small country to drive around like some SUV’s and since I only need 4x4 for my campground in New Hampshire and for snow on the roads in Connecticut a four door Wrangler just seemed silly. Plus I do love the looks of it.

I missed my Jeep ;)
I had 3 Jeeps previously and couldn't afford the gas driving to work, so I got a Subaru outback. Once the Patriot came out and I saw the gas mileage I figured I'd be able to "swing" a Jeep again, so after educating myself, mostly on the boards here, I went and ordered mine and have been very happy with it. I get just about the same mileage that I did with the Outback, but now a much more comfortable ride, and I'm smiling again :) being back in a Jeeeeeeep.

That's good to read! This is my first jeep product and wonder on it reliability.

I chose it because: the price for a SUV 4x4, styling and gas cost. I like it very much and my girlfriend too. :smiley_thumbs_up:

1) Bought my 07 when gas costs were climbing.
2) Wife liked it.
3) Got lots of vehicle and techie things for the price.
4) Wife liked it.
5) Am counting on Jeep's durability to continue with the Pat.
6) Wife liked it.
7) I negotiate grades of 2%, 95% of the time. For that other 5%, I want all the SUV driveline stuff.
8) Wife liked it.
9) Carries lots of stuff; yet fits in the garage
10) Wife liked it.
11) Not a GM product
12) Did I mention the wife liked it?

Um, suffice it to say I have lived my life and I fervently believe "When momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy".

I bought a Chevy HHR for the cool styling and great mileage. When winter came I discovered a 2WD car did not meet my transportation needs and the fact it wasn't a Jeep just bugged me to no end. While replacing my wife's Ford Focus with a Compass, I discovered that the Patriot gets good enough mileage, that I was willing to take the 6 MPG hit in order to get 4WD and back into the Jeep brand that I am more comfortable driving. I've learned my lesson, I won't be buying anything but Jeeps from now on.

Needed to replace my '99 Club Cab Dakota with something more family friendly.
Wanted a mid/small SUV. Wanted something FWD, decent mileage (better than my V6 Dakota), with an exterior I liked (I loathe the CRV and its look-a-likes).
Only the Honda Pilot and Jeep Patriot met that criteria. The Pilot was way too expensive (even used); I don't want to spend more than $20K on a mode of transportation.

After many months of studying, I finally ordered exactly what I wanted.

Couldn't be happier
(unless I could have gotten one in Intense Blue Pearlcoat like my Dakota)

For me, I was replacing an older vehicle.
My main factors were:
1) Needed to be able to launch and pull out a 17' Inboard/outboard boat. My second vehicle, a Grand Caravan could tow, but lacked the traction on the boat ramp and could hardly pull itself out. I didn't need the towing capacity/cooling; just the traction and enough strength to get the boat up the ramp. If only my Grand Caravan was AWD, or had even front axle TCS, that would have been sufficient.
2) Needed decent gas mileage
3) Wanted to keep the cost of the vehicle affordable
4) Wife had to be OK with it.

For my needs, I would have taken an AWD Toyota Matrix and put a hitch on it and been ecstatic.... There was a dark 2 years when the Matrix did not have AWD as an option, and the used Matrix's that were available weren't AWD. I was also looking at RWD vehicles like the Charger and the 300 but milage and cost were prohibitive.

I'm glad I got the Patriot: it's gotten me into some light off-roading and mudding, and has been oodles of fun.

I liked the added safety features over my Caliber. I likes the idea of a 4x4 with TC & ESP. Also lockable 4x4. My choice was a nice used one , Low miles at a good price. The geat thing was also a good ,economical diesel engine & 6 speed manual trans.
