I am a self-confessed color snob.

I don't think you could pay me to drive a white car.

I make fun of myself because my current car, besides being a "granny car," is what I call "old people gold." So that eliminates me from getting a khaki Jeep.

Some years ago, Jeep had a khaki color that I referred to as that "cardboard" color.

I have indifferent feelings about black. Hubby's ride is black, and it is OK.

I'm not a red girl.

I'm not a fan of silver. Had a silver Corolla once...meh.

I'm a huge fan of the charcoal gray color that is so popular now - especially paired with tinted windows. I think that that is a mean little combo. (I wish it was available on the Patriot)

I can do the Jeep Green without a problem...especially with a beige interior...but...

I love blue cars - the darker the better. I think that the steel blue is the most beautiful thing I may have ever seen. I actually owned a dark blue car once. *sigh* Such fond memories...

I never even gave Marine Blue a thought. "It's not the Steel Blue," I kept telling myself. However, today I saw a Caliber in the Marine Blue. I actually (on purpose) parked next to it to get a closer look. Holy cow, it's nice. I can actually envision it on a Patriot. The color looks much nicer in person than in a photo or on the website. Kinda makes me wish it were going to be available when I order my Patriot...

What no Orange?

I actually believe the concept of aligning the paint chips so that the car appears a different color from different directions is a great if impossible to maintain idea. How about a Foose fade where the Patriot goes from dark blue to light blue metallic top to bottom? Front to Back?

The next big thing in cars just may be one of these "custom" paint jobs.

When we visited the Jeep dealership a few weeks ago they had a Patriot in Marine Blue; it looks really nice.

Personally, I think the Patriot would look best in a medium green: the Galapagos Green that was available on Honda Elements through 2006 was a really nice shade of green (Jeep Green is too close to Army Green for my taste). My second color choice is orange (a nice copper orange) which, thankfully, will be available on 2008 models.

Ah, the orange. For me, one that is not so good in thought. "An orange car?" I ask myself..."Surely not."

Then I see some of the darker orange ones (saw a Wrangler in a nice deep orange the other week) and think, "Well, that's not so bad."

But alas, still not for me.

When I was in the process of searching, I thought for SURE that I wanted the Pat in Silver but then when I got to a lot that finally had a manual tranny, it was in Steel Blue and fell in love with the color/car...

The rest is history and now I'm crusing around in it! I really don't mind some of the other colors. Black is sharp and Jeep Green wasn't bad. The white one i've seen was ok but I'd never drive it. I have yet to see a red or marine blue in person.

Um, I have a long history of white vehicles! I think they look classy as long as there is more black than chrome and never any garish gold moulding or trim. I live in Florida, so the windows must be tinted also. When I was looking at the Doge Caliber, I wanted a white one. The black did look good, but bad news in my climate. When the Patriot finally came on the scene and I was building and pricing them on Jeep, I thought the white didn't look so good on line. However, the khaki looked like total merde! What colour was that anyways? That was on line, because in person I immediately liked the khaki and thought it made the Jeep look much more expensive than it was. Very classy, especially with the wheel and Goodyear tyre package. My wife was happy that she was spared another austere white box. I have yet to see a white one in person and wonder how they look.

I love the black ones however, as a horse back rider and living in the country and well, I admit it - Im not good at keeping vehicles clean, I knew (and was told repeatly) that black was not the color for me. The lot I was at had a black sport, a silver sport and a black limited. There was also a red and white one there second day we looked. I was also browsing online when I saw a computer picture of the Khaki and wasn't impressed but I figured I outta go see what they have since I was in desperate need of a new vehicle and had made up my mind on the Patriots. Once I saw an actual Khaki one I was surprised at how good it looked. I wish I could have seen a green one, however ordering one wasn't really an option. Most people when seeing my patriot (I have only seen one other patriot that wasn't on a dealer lot and that was when I was in FL. I live in Indiana) comment that the like the look of it, love the color, and are often surprised by how roomy it actually is on the inside. :) Plus the khaki hides dirt well, although I will take much better care of this vehicle than I did my dakota. (especially since I'm paying for it.)

So, I proudly own a "cardboard" colored patriot but I know exactly what you mean by "old people color" and actually never imagined owning a vehicle this color.
