I stated in my introductory thread that I was looking to purchase a Patriot for my father. We went out today to look at a few both used and new. One of the new ones we looked at was a '14 with Rugged Brown Pearlcoat. Now I am home and want to do a search for more Patriots in that color. This color is not an option on the Jeep or cars.com website. Can anyone tell me why this color is missing from the search or build function?

Not sure why it's not available on the build option unless it's a special-order only thing for the Patriot. There's a Western Brown or something like that which I believe the Compass is currently available in, but not too sure. Could just be a website glitch or something they forgot to add.

I did find a way on cars.com to search for a brown one but they nor jeep will not let you build one.

After looking at the few brown that were available in the area it looks like I am going back to the jeep dealer and buy the new one we looked at. After looking at the low mileage used ones we can get a new one for only couple grand more and they have the full warranty.

I actually test drove the Rugged Brown Pearlcoat one when I bought mine. It stood out, I really liked the color but it didn't come with the options I was looking for. So I declined, and bought the Black one that had all I needed/wanted. Beautiful color IMO...

Don't let your enthusiasm for the rugged brown affect your bargaining on the 2014. Rugged brown was late to show up in the 2014 production and it seems that they nixed it early also. My Winter Chill was ended early on the 2014 production also. Jeep seems to have one "odd ball" color each year with the Patriot: Winter Chill, Rugged Brown, and for 2015 it's Eco Green: http://www.jeep.com/en/patriot/#model=limited&color=eco-green-pearl

I'm guessing that they were not popular colors and that might be why you have found a few left overs on dealer lots. I would play this out to your advantage and pretend that to be a downside to your purchase. You should be able to buy that 2014 with a huge discount. Research prices carefully and be adamant with a reasonable low ball offer. Walk out the door when they balk and see what happens......they will follow you out the door or phone you shortly, agreeing to the deal.

I hear you...I was determined to not get a dull colour, or a gray one but lacking the time to order and needing a few certain options I ended up with a mineral gray one that had every one of my needs, very few other things I really didn't care about.

In the end, it was a 2011 with 2012 fast approaching, it was that in between Christmas and New Years week and price ended up getting me...in Canada where all/any vehicle is significantly more expensive that the US deals with I got an almost $25,000 unit for $19,000.

At that price gray is OK.

Rugged Brown Pearlcoat was only for the 2014 model year, and we are now a month and a half into the 2015 model year. You may still be able to find one by using the search feature on the Jeep website, or have your dealer try to find one. Ebay, cars.com or some of the mega dealer sites, e.g., Dave Smith or Steve White are other options.
Good luck. I thought it was a great color.

I am working with the dealer on a Rugged Brown as I am typing this. May have a deal done today.

My wife and I bought a new 2014 Rugged Brown Latitude Thursday a week ago. We gave it to my Dad on Thanksgiving. I had to hide my car at the local park and ride and take the Patriot to work with me so he would not see if he came by the house by chance. The dealer basically let me borrow it for the week and then we finished up the details yesterday. They were good to work with. He was thinking he would end up with a used one but for the little difference in price it was worth getting him a new one. We put about 100 miles yesterday just riding around.

Several months ago my Dad's Patriot was totaled. Although there were some injuries everyone is fine now. After months of searching I tried to find the exact same Patriot within a reasonable distance with no luck. One day about a month ago he was at the dealer and saw the Cherokee below and bought that. Since he did not get another Patriot the things he added to it are now list in the Outpost section.

I had the dealership search for a Rugged Brown with the All Weather Group but was not one within 500 miles back in July 2014. Settled on the Granite Crystal.
