I have put a previous post in about an issue, now I have another one. Im wondering if I got a lemon. I will explain.
I purchased a brand new 2014 Patriot Latitude about five weeks ago. It has around 1300 miles on it. I have had issues with the vehicle already. Next Wednesday it will be the third time I will be taking it back to the dealer.
The issues are: 1. Rotten egg smell periodically coming from exhaust (This was discussed in a previous post)
2. One of the windshield moldings was not installed properly (fixed by dealer)
3. Part of rubber weatherstripping on driver's side kept dropping down (fixed by dealer, dealer said there was no adhesive applied at factory)
4. It was cold today. As I was driving to work I felt a cold draft. Draft is coming out of the opening of the steering column where the handle is to adjust the steering wheel. ( returning to dealer Wednesday)
5. I was eating lunch today in the vehicle. Vehicle not in motion, just parked. My feet felt kind of cold. I reached down underneath the dash above my feet. I felt a slight draft of cold air under there. (returning to dealer Wednesday)
6. Driving home from work tonight I could feel cool air coming from around the inside of the windshield.
Maybe Im being too critical. But the overall impression I have now is, the vehicle is not put together very well. Shoddy workmanship. Or maybe Im just unlucky. I mean arent these things where the drafts are coming in supposed to be sealed?
I called Jeep/Chrysler today about it just to have it on record.

Maybe it was built on a Monday or Friday, but my 2010 has given me very little trouble over the years. Only two problems is a very small leak at the top of the liftgate and a suspension that starts to squeak after 30k miles or so. Really looking forward to having it improved.

My suspension started doin that at 10k miles, also I feel as if my engine makes some funny noises, but besides that she's okay for now

But for drafts, I feel a few every so often but when it's cold I have the heater on floor and windows so it usually solves any draft I feel

m07801, I don't know if it would apply for the Lemon Law or not. It sounds like there are some concerns with how the vehicle was sealed up. Have you asked the dealer to check the whole thing over since there have been several similar issues? I would think that it would be in their best interest to do it right with one visit rather than having you in and out of the dealer multiple times, burning your time and theirs.
I didn't see the results of the sulfer smell you were getting, and it sounds like other than that, the main issues are getting it sealed properly. I think once you get the drafts/seals taken care of you will likely be able to go quite a while before you run into any more concerns.
It really sucks that you are having to deal with all of that, and it's the risk we take of puchasing something assembled by human hands. I hope you can get it all taken care of so you can get back to loving your Pat.

the patriot is built to a price not a quality hence the low price tag

lemon law applies to problems that are recurring and not fixed after 3 repairs
issues are minor, annoying but minor,
i have had similar things happen, plastic thingy on windshield is loose,
i only notice it when i wash the car, never an issue while driving
my seal on passenger side does the same, never happened on drivers side,
i just push it back unto place, i thought about adhesive but was advised against it, it is designed to move, adhesive in spots will cause it to stretch and wear out,
cold air at feet could just be open vent,
egg/sulphur smell would be my main concern, if Cat is bad have 8/80k warranty on it,

Mazdas built in Japan have the worst build quality. Japanese vehicles built in the States are better than if built in Japan not sure why. I have had issues with the Patriot but so minor you wouldn't know because I don't post minor stuff. This guy is probably a customer that is paying back all the SOB stealerships for us and we appreciate it.:pepper:

I have owned Toyota Corollas from California, Japan, and Canada...I have to say the Japanese produced Corolla was the best.

Don't feel like an only child, I have a lot of the same weather stripping issues, but it's the nature of the beast. It's an affordable vehicle, and it's a Jeep. Don't get me wrong, I like mine, and like others have said, it's not bad enough, for me, to warrant going to the dealer. Now if it was drivetrain or water leaks, I'd be there.

now i know in my heart that they resold this jeep knowing full well it had all these issues....1300 miles...yea, they knew it...and you should see a lawyer just to see if there is anything in your state that could help with this outside of the lemon laws.
ESPECIALLY if there is a record of these issues from previous owner, probably using the same dealer...a lawyer could get that before they erase it.
knowingly selling something you know is broke can be a nice lawsuit, resulting in them just backing down and taking the car back...
see a lawyer...this is bullsh#t in my book.

AND....lemon law would probably cover this issue as it seems like it is the same thing just in different parts of the car...same issue, maybe not the same place in the vehicle...I think you got a good chance.

I can go to any dealer in the country and test drive any car 20 miles and nitpick "problems" from a 13k Mitsubishi mirage to a $150,000 Mercedes. There is no such thing as perfect. The warranty clerk at my dealer is like that. I told her to buy a ford and go annoy them.
