I have a 2 inch crack clean through in my front fascia/bumper cover. Anybody here knowledgable about body work know if a crack in a bumper cover can be repaired or is it always that a replacement is the cure?

Hey UPKEV, Sorry to hear about the deer. Ill tell you what, for the price of shipping alone, I'll send you a revolutonary product for auto repair. It comes in a roll and is about an inch and a half wide. One side is real sticky so you know it wont come loose, and the other side is nice and shiny silver so it will match perfect with your Jeep:D

Okay, I'll send you my husky for when your pat don't start. Do you have a tow hook to attach him to?

Sounds like a Red Green Repair job!

That's a strong husky.

That silver sticky product definitely is the handyman's secret weapon.

UN4GTBL, That would have been a difficult repair. With the plastic dented and the crack crossing a couple of different planes it would probably not have stayed fixed. :(

ya, that's why when one guy was like "ya, no problem it'll be good as new..." I was really hesitant about getting it repaired, and just got it replaced ($$$$) ha ha

if its a smal crack i don't think it would be a problem at all

Im not sure that youre Husky alone could do it. But maybe if we had one of those dog track rabbits I could get my Pointer interested enough to help with the pull:)

That's it???
I thought you said you hit a deer?
Are you sure it wasn't a jackalope? :)

That looks like a crack that can be repaired. It is pretty small and the damage appears to only be in one plane (most of it is along the top with only a slight tear on the front).

I told ya I was impressed that there wasn't more damage. I really made good contact. I was thinking maybe the tow hook directly under the crack helped push the deer out of the way.

I've never tried it, but I always thought epoxy could be a quick fix. Ideally, you can acess the back of the bumper (in this case you would have to take the bumper off). Then use touch up paint on the front. If you didn't want to take the bumper off you could epoxy it from the front and then use touch up paint. Obviously this is a low cost half ass way to fix it, but it could work.

Jeep Frank I don't think the epoxy would hold, if there is any flexing on the plastic crack will reappear. My body man told me that all plastic can be welded as long as you got the compatible plastic rod for filler.

Thanks for the input! I will take it to the dealer sometime this week and see what my options are as well.

I figure if they do the work, then they can't try and wiggle out of the warranty later.

I'd say if its possible if the amount is crazy just pop the crack out so that it all sits flush like its supposed to (you may have to heat the plastic up first) and see what that looks like.

Even for my big crack, once i washed the car and popped it all back flush it wasn't really noticeable

After I popped it out, but before i had the bumper cover replaced:
